About Us:

Aeva’s mission is to bring the next wave of perception to a broad range of applications from automated driving to industrial robotics, consumer electronics, consumer health, security, and beyond. Aeva is transforming autonomy with its groundbreaking sensing and perception technology that integrates all key LiDAR components onto a silicon photonics chip in a compact module. Aeva 4D LiDAR sensors uniquely detect instant velocity in addition to 3D position, allowing autonomous devices like vehicles and robots to make more intelligent and safe decisions.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Product Quality Manager to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for the overall quality and reliability of Aeva’s state-of-the-art 4D LiDAR systems. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of product quality, acting as the primary point of contact for customers and internal stakeholders.

What you'll do:

  • Lead quality assurance activities throughout the entire product lifecycle, from design and development to the start of production.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Aeva’s product quality processes and methodologies, ensuring alignment with industry standards and best practices.
  • Implement APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) processes with our contract manufacturers from the initial design stage through PPAP submission.
  • Conduct regular audits of suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure compliance with automotive quality requirements, including IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 standards.
  • Evaluate the capability and effectiveness of manufacturing processes, procedures, production tools, and test equipment.
  • Establish a robust quality control plan to achieve zero defects and lead quality initiatives to improve and sustain product quality at scale.
  • Execute the ramp plan to ensure on-time delivery and partner with the manufacturing team to drive yield improvement activities.
  • Monitor and evaluate the results of ongoing reliability testing to verify process stability.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure quality requirements are met at all stages.
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective action processes to address product quality issues.
  • Develop and maintain key quality metrics, reports, and dashboards to monitor performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Lead and mentor a team of quality professionals, fostering a culture of quality excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Manage customer quality concerns and work closely with customer service and engineering teams to resolve issues promptly.

What you'll have:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in a Manufacturing or Quality role within the automotive industry.
  • Expert in automotive quality management standards and core tools including Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
  • Fluent in reading technical drawings and a solid understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experienced qualifying mechanical or optical metrology tools.
  • Self-starter who is able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to new challenges within a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience with root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team, promoting a culture of quality excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Certified Quality Management Systems auditor (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF16949) or VDA 6.3 process auditor.
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally up to 20% based on business needs.

Nice to haves:

  • Experience in manufacturing advanced optical sensor systems.
  • Working experience with Jira, Confluence, and TeamCenter is a plus.
  • Knowledge of automotive Functional Safety requirements (ISO 26262).

What's in it for you:
