Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Referral Department Nurse to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will work across our Neurology, Internal Medicine, and Oncology departments, providing comprehensive nursing care to our referral patients. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, cutting-edge environment where you will play a crucial role in supporting our specialists and enhancing patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional nursing care to patients across Neurology, Internal Medicine, and Oncology departments.
  • Assist with diagnostic procedures, treatments, and surgeries, ensuring the highest standards of care and patient safety.
  • Manage patient admissions, monitoring, and discharge processes, ensuring clear communication with both the veterinary team and pet owners.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians, specialists, and other nursing staff to deliver integrated, multidisciplinary care.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including treatment plans, progress notes, and follow-up care.
  • Educate and support pet owners by providing them with information on their pets' conditions, treatment options, and care requirements.
  • Teach and mentor veterinary students: Actively engage in the training and development of DVM students during their rotations, sharing knowledge and fostering their practical skills.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment, sharing knowledge and supporting the training and development of junior staff.

Requirements:

  • Qualification: Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent) is essential.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a referral or specialist veterinary practice, with experience in Neurology, Internal Medicine, or Oncology preferred.
  • Skills: Strong technical nursing skills, including venipuncture, catheter placement, anaesthesia monitoring, and patient care.
  • Passion for Teaching: A genuine interest in educating and mentoring veterinary students, with the ability to communicate complex concepts in a clear and supportive manner.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with veterinarians, specialists, clients, and other team members.
  • Flexibility: Ability to adapt and work efficiently across different departments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team Player: A positive attitude with a strong commitment to teamwork and providing the best possible care to our patients.
