Job Description

Test/QA Engineer will be working as part of the development scrum team to perform integration testing, execute test automation suites on multiple environments, and handle tech support escalations from our field force.

In this position, he/she will be responsible for administering technical support, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving technical issues, provide technical expertise and guidance to project teams, field reps team, and help develop strategies for testing and supporting complex applications.

Replicate issues and test configurations, recreate, track, and verify software defects in the field/ under lab conditions. Additionally, you will also participate in on-call rotation during off-hours to handle and support field issues.

Job responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all testing activities (manual): Perform smoke, sanity, integration testing of SW features manually if there are no automated test procedures existing yet.
  • Pursue team’s efforts on supporting field engineers and other project members by providing level two and three technical support for resolving technical issues with our Nielsen in-home measurement router (Streaming Meter). While working to resolve complex technical problems, including escalations to our product engineers. Reproduce and debug reported problems in a lab environment as necessary, and work with the engineering and test teams to resolve issues.
  • Perform test design, developing and executing test automation suites on multiple testing environments.
  • Work with other test engineers and software developers for investigating problems in software as a result of testing.
  • Clearly document actions in tickets to effectively communicate information internally within the team and to other teams (field operations).
  • Work with product owners on preparing SW packages to be distributed for user acceptance and field tests or for final deployment.
  • Providing recommendations to test and design to improve the quality of the products and/or procedures.
  • Innovating new technical solutions to solve business problems and reduce execution costs.

Role requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline or related degree, or equivalent work experience in the field or related area.
  • 3 years of progressively more complex experience in Testing/Engineering and Technical Support.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Critical thinker.
  • Self-motivated, result-driven, and proactive personality with a positive attitude.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and simultaneous work projects.

Essential skills set:

  • Knowledge of automated and manual testing.
  • Working experience on Windows and Linux systems.
  • Intermediate understanding of networks, interfaces, WiFi, TCP/IP protocols.
  • Field Support work experience.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment (scrum, kanban).
  • Knowledge of English (written and dialog).

Preferred skills set:

  • Test design and Test planning.
  • Base knowledge of programming languages: Java, bash shell scripting, Python
  • Proven experience in Software Quality Assurance and test automation (preferable UI and backend).
  • Working experience with Selenium WebDriver, TestNG or JUnit libraries or similar.
  • Advanced knowledge of networks, interfaces, WiFi, TCP/IP protocols.
  • Familiar with Linux/OpenWrt.
  • Experienced in the use of any traffic analysis tools (Wireshark, etc.).

Desirable skills set:

  • Advanced knowledge of programming languages: Java, Bash Shell Scripting, Python.
  • Advanced knowledge of Selenium WebDriver, Maven, TestNG or JUnit libraries or similar.
  • Version Control/CR: Gitlab or Bitbucket.
  • Virtual Environments: Docker, VirtualBox, VMWare.CI/CD: GitLab or Jenkins
  • Strong TCP/IP networking skills and all protocol layers 2, 3 and 4 troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems (Ethernet, WiFi).
