A Day in the Life:

PRT is currently recruiting a full-time Cold Storage Specialist to work at PRT Hybrid in Pitt Meadows, BC. The Cold Storage Specialist is responsible for the organization of stock and for moving stock in and out of cold storage. Outside of the shipping / cold storage period, the Cold Storage Specialist will flex to other roles within the nursery. This engaging, high paced, physical position offers a safe work environment and an opportunity for a career that will make a positive change in the world. Candidates should have a desire and keenness to learn about the forest seedling nursery activities, work independently and efficiently. Regular work hours are 40 hours per week with varying hours and shift times by grow season, weekend work and shift work are required. No experience required; full training provided.

Key accountabilities of the Cold Storage Specialist are:

  • Shipping and receiving
  • Keep neat, detailed, and accurate records including computerized record keeping systems and data entry.
  • Monitor stock quality and inventory
  • Thaw stock prior to shipping
  • Keep crop and materials inventory.
  • Assist with crop irrigation and measuring.
  • Communicate and build relationships with customers and PRT CSR’s
  • Assist with other nursery activities such as quality control of sowing and lift.

The Cold Storage Specialist will work alongside Nursery Workers and will report directly to the Nursery Manager. Situated in the beautiful lower mainland just a 45-minute drive east of downtown Vancouver. Pitt Meadows is a greenery-laden, mountain-ringed community next to the Fraser River that offers a blend of authentic rural activities and urban amenities. Catering to any interest; majestic mountains, sparkling ocean, rainforests, and beautiful foliage throughout all four seasons make this a sought-out place to live.

Requirements

Required/Minimum Qualifications & Skills:

  • Valid Driver’s License and a valid certification for operating power mobile equipment. (i.e., Forklift, Skid Steer) *if not currently certified, must have the ability to acquire certification upon hiring.
  • Level 1 or 2 First Aid certificate
  • Appropriate work attire
  • Great organizational, record keeping and attention to details skills
  • Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to stay calm and think under pressure
  • Professional communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Team-oriented personality with a positive attitude
  • Ability to stand for lengthy periods of time and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 45lbs.
  • Commitment to quality and safety
