This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

As part of a hardworking team of diverse & cross functional specialists, you will develop, lead and complete tests for multiple integrated spaceflight systems. You will share in the Integrated test teamโ€™s impact of developing tests plans and procedures that will be used throughout the New Glenn testing lifecycle. This role is a combination of test and operations development, planning and documentation, hands-on running tests and problem solving/data analysis. Early responsibilities include collaborating with Responsible Engineers and Designers to plan tests of the vehicle systems, ensuring these tests are crafted to verify the pertinent requirements. Other responsibilities include coordinating test crews, defining vehicle test configurations and developing and operating support equipment required for testing. In addition, this role will support subsystem development testing to reduce program risk. You will be responsible for writing test procedures and handling procedural redlines' day of test. During test execution, this role would act as lead test engineer for a given test with overall responsibility for safety of the test, the crew and the vehicle.

You will be acting as test engineer with overall responsibility for the test, the crew, and the procedure. You will be responsible for coordinating test crews, support equipment, and vehicle configurations for testing. You will be responsible for enforcing safety policies during test planning and operations and troubleshooting issues that come up during testing. You will also be responsible for reducing, analyzing, and archiving test data to support verification tasks.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering
  • 8+ years of current technical hands-on experience in:
    • Experience developing, writing, and updating test procedures
    • Strong technical writing and communication skills
    • Hands-on experience with hazardous testing with a strong safety record
    • A proven track record of working successfully in multiple disciplines
    • Experience leading test teams as a Test Conductor or Test Engineer
  • 8+ years of current technical hands-on experience designing, testing, or operating in at least two of the following disciplines:
    • Avionics, Navigation, or control systems
    • Power Storage and Distribution Systems
    • Electrical Harnessing
    • Electrical Instrumentation
    • Communications systems
    • Electrical Ground Support Equipment
    • Inert Gas Systems (GN2, GHE, NITROX)
    • Cryogenic Systems (LOX, LNG, LN2)
    • Hazardous Chemical Processing (Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Industrial Chemicals)
  • Experience in system engineering practices formal or informal
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering or similar
  • Experience operating Vehicle Hydraulics Systems
  • Experience operating Ground or Flight Pressurized Systems
  • Experience troubleshooting multidisciplinary issues deriving root causes for non-nominal test issues
  • Experience testing or operating avionics/control systems
