Transportation Engineer

AECOM’s Birmingham Transportation group is actively seeking a highly motivated experienced Transportation Engineer with experience in roadway and highway design. This role will be part of an established surface transportation group and will work with a broad variety of transportation clients and projects throughout AECOM’s East Region.

Typical duties and responsibilities;

• Roadway design.
• In this role you will also work collaboratively with colleagues throughout AECOM’s East Region on roadway infrastructure projects for multiple state, local and federal government.
• Technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team.
• Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
• Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
• Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
• Prepares technical specification sections.
• Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
• Mentor and manage junior level staff.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

• BA/BS in Civil or Transportation Engineering + 4 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications:

• Alabama Professional Engineers License or ability to obtain license within one year.
• Experience with designs and plans production for transportation/civil infrastructure projects including calculations.
• Prior experience designing highways/roadways for transportation projects.
• Experience and ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment in the solution of work problems.
• Experience using InRoads and/or OpenRoads design software packages for the conceptual and detailed design of horizontal and vertical alignments, sections, and 3D modeling on rail and/or highway projects.
• Ability to communicate effectively; verbal and written.
