Mō tō mātou rōpū | About the team

The TFC Programme is a one-year, full time foundation programme that provides an alternative entry to university for those who left school without adequate qualifications, who did not achieve the required rank score for their chosen degree, and who are under prepared for the subjects they aspire to study. We usually take on around 300 students a year.

We work to support under-represented groups in tertiary education with particular consideration given to Māori, Pasifika, students from low-socio economic backgrounds, students with disabilities, and students from refugee backgrounds. TFC introduces students to the University of Auckland, develops academic skills and engenders the confidence necessary for future successful academic study.

TFC currently has offerings in 4 semesters – Semester 1, 2, Late Year Course, and Summer School, and is taught across two campuses (City and Tai Tonga), with Tai Tokerau planned to be included again in 2025. We have a small central organisational team, with the courses being delivered by faculties; the contributing faculties are: Arts, Business and Economics, Education, Creative Arts and Industries, and Science.
