Are you an experienced Dental Assistant looking to step into a leadership role? Griffith University is seeking two dynamic and motivated individuals to join our Health Group as Team Leaders within the Griffith Health Clinic. These continuing positions offer the opportunity to lead and manage our dedicated teams in either the Private Suites or the Learning & Teaching departments. The Clinics features 100+ chairs, which continues to expand, in addition to Nutrition and Dietetics, Physiotherapy, Speech Pathology and Psychology Clinics.

Dental Assistant Team Leader โ€“ IPP (Private Suites):
In this role, you will manage the day-to-day operations of the private suites within the Griffith Dental Clinic. You will lead, manage, and train a team of Dental Assistants, ensuring they provide top-quality patient care and adhere to infection control guidelines according to Australian Standards. You will also provide support across different clinic areas as needed. The working hours for this position is Monday to Friday, 7:45am to 3:45pm.

Dental Assistant Team Leader โ€“ Learning & Teaching (L&T):
As the L&T Team Leader, you will oversee the daily operations of the Learning & Teaching department, supporting the clinical activities of our Undergraduate and Postgraduate students. You will lead a team of Dental Assistants, ensuring high standards of patient care and infection control, while also providing cross-coverage for other clinic areas as necessary. The working hours for this position is Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 3:30pm.

As a Dental Assistant Team Leader, key responsibilities for this role will include:

  • Manage daily activities, collaborating with academic and professional staff.
  • Lead and supervise the respective teams, providing guidance, training, and mentorship.
  • Manage clinic incidents and contribute to risk management.
  • Facilitate staff induction, development, and performance management.
  • Ensure team compliance with workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of patient care and infection control.
  • Ensure efficient operations, including stock control and workflow management.
  • Contribute to process improvements within the clinic.
  • Stay updated on new dental techniques and share knowledge with colleagues.

These are continuing, full-time positions based at the Dental Clinic on our Gold Coast campus.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will hold an Australian Dental Assistant qualification, as well as a current CPR/First Aid Certificate from a recognised provider and a current Queensland Blue Card.

In addition to the above, you will demonstrate:

  • Proven leadership skills to guide and motivate a team of dental professionals and support staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels and across multiple teams.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with patients, staff, and external parties effectively.
  • High level of attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage competing demands effectively.

Salary range
The full-time base salary for a HEW Level 5 is in the range $76,236 - $85,525 per annum, plus 17% employer superannuation. The total FTE package is in the range $89,197 - $100,064 per annum.
