We’re looking for a Financial Controller to join our team in Kings Hill, Kent on a 12 month fixed term contract basis.

As Financial Controller here at Westfalia Fruit, you will be responsible for overseeing the Finance Department's operations and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of all accounting records. This role will be based at our Kings Hill office, but with travel occasionally required to our packhouse in Spalding, Lincolnshire.

Responsibilities include:

Financial Management and Analysis

• Prepare and analyse monthly management accounts
• Oversee financial forecasting, budgeting, and reporting
• Manage cash flow, working capital, and financial risk
• Conduct variance analysis and financial performance reviews

Accounting and Compliance

• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
• Manage statutory accounts preparation and audits
• Maintain and reconcile accounting records
• Manage tax compliance and insurance policies

Team Leadership and Development

• Lead and develop the finance team
• Recruit, train, and motivate finance staff

Strategic Planning

• Develop and implement financial strategies
• Prepare feasibility studies and business cases

Requirements

Experience we look for:

Essential

• Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA) or equivalent industry experience
• Proven track record in the fresh produce sector
• Strong financial accounting knowledge, including IFRS
• Proven ability to manage complex financial data and reporting
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
• Willingness to travel to our Spalding location when required

Desirable

• Experience with Prophet system (advantageous)
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment
• Strong interpersonal and adaptability skills
