We’re looking for a Site Manager to join our team in Birds Drove, Spalding, UK

You will be responsible overseeing all packhouse operations at our fresh produce facility in Birds Drove, Lincolnshire. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the packhouse, ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, production and dispatch of fresh produce while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and productivity. This role requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of packhouse management, and experience in the fresh produce industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Packhouse Operations Management: Oversee all aspects of packhouse operations, including receiving, storing, production and dispatching fresh produce to ensure efficient and timely delivery.
  • Inventory Control: Manage inventory levels, conduct regular stock checks, and ensure accurate record-keeping to minimise waste and optimise stock rotation.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, train, and motivate production and warehouse staff to achieve operational excellence, ensuring that all team members adhere to safety and quality standards.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, implementing safety protocols and conducting regular risk assessments to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Quality Assurance: Monitor the quality of fresh produce, ensuring that all products meet customer specifications and industry standards before dispatch.
  • Process Improvement: Identify areas for improvement within the packhouse operations and implement best practices to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall performance.
  • Logistics Coordination: Coordinate with the logistics team to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation of goods, optimising delivery schedules and routes.
  • Budget Management: Manage the site budget, controlling costs related to labour, equipment and materials while maximising efficiency and productivity.
  • Facility Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance of the packhouse facility and equipment, ensuring that all systems are functioning properly and scheduling repairs as needed.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on operational performance, including productivity, inventory levels, and compliance with health and safety regulations.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in packhouse or site management, preferably within the fresh produce or food industry.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and warehouse management software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
