Engineering Manager - Optimization

We are looking for an Engineering Manager - Optimization, Logistics (All genders) to join our Logistics team to help us create a fast, reliable and transparent delivery experience. You will be helping our riders working across 50+ countries to get a stable and useful application which will make their work easier and connect riders to millions of customers every day. The Optimization tribe owns the central piece of the Logistics architecture with a set of services responsible for finding the best rider for every order. We enable this by solving the Vehicle Routing Problem at scale as well as building tools for operations managers and of course in close collaboration with the rider app itself which drives the whole experience and provides transparency at all times.

• Lead and empower a talented team of engineers.
• Develop and continuously improve stability and scalability of our services.
• Work closely with other teams, communicate solutions with technical and non-technical stakeholders and solve challenges.
• Ensure operation and technical excellence in the team.
• Practice modern software development methodologies such as continuous delivery, TDD, scrum and collaborate with product managers.
• Participate in code reviews and application debugging and diagnosis.

Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of hands-on and a minimum of 2 years technical leadership and people management experience.
• Make it a priority to nurture your team - ensuring their engagement remains high by challenging them with ambitious objectives and providing honest feedback to foster their growth.
• Excellent knowledge and previous hands-on programming experience in developing Backend Application (Java/Kotlin) applications.
• Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Experience in designing and implementing large scale software systems.
• Curiosity, creative outside-the-box problem solving abilities and an eye for detail.
• Ability to manage conflicting priorities and talk to stakeholders.

Nice to have:

• A completed technical degree in Computer Science or any related fields.
• Experience with building and leading cross functional teams.
• Experience working with the Research function.
• Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases, cloud providers and microservices architecture.
• Experience with various AWS services such as DDB, Lambda, CW, EC2, SQS, SNS.
• Experience with the release automation process.
