CGC Inc. Is currently recruiting a Training Coordinator with a successful background within health and safety for our Wheatland, Alberta plant.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Position reports to the Continuous Improvement Lead.
  • Lead the creation, development, incorporation, operation, and maintenance of all plant training programs, platforms. Recognize employeesโ€™ strengths and development needs regarding health and safety, Model Programs, CGC/USG, provincial and municipal regulations. Develop metrics around training initiatives.
  • Coordinate training and recertification for all individuals across the plant. Keep up to date detailed records. Create and rollout training as needed from CGC Corporate Safety.
  • Work towards being a subject matter expert within the POKA system.
  • Oversee implementation and compliance of CGC Safety Model Programs (LOTO, Electrical, Lifting/Rigging, Fall Prevention, etc.) and policies at the plant level.
  • Ensure compliance with local, provincial, federal, and company environmental and safety regulations. Recommend and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Assist in the training a highly skilled workforce to ensure an efficient operation, consistent with overall company objectives.
  • Effectively develop, track, coordinate and lead the training initiatives at the Wheatland Plant ensuring full compliance with CGC, Provincial and Federal training and certification requirements.
  • Provide coaching and motivate employees individually and as a team.
  • Generate a training and development plan which will provide a flexible and efficient workforce to meet increased demand.
  • Perform and maintain Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act training for new employees and annual refresher training.
  • Perform site specific training for all visitors.
  • Maintain all training materials including: operator rate training program, training matrix, training check sheets, essential physical requirements (EPR), visual work instructions, and task & refresher trainings.
  • Perform safety walkarounds focusing on areas of opportunity across the plant.
  • Present relevant training topics in all employee meetings.
  • Incorporate a Continuous Improvement culture into all priorities, training techniques, reporting and organization.
  • Initial growth in role will include responsibility and accountability to support the Calgary Alberta Plant and possible other CGC Locations, but this position will be permanently based out of the plant in Wheatland, AB.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • A diploma or other certification within occupational health & safety, with previous work experience in a safety capacity is an asset.
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of the Alberta Health and Safety Act and provincial and federal regulations.
  • Strong detail orientated, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Able to communicate with all levels of the organization and comfortability spending time in the field where the work happens.
  • Capable of delivering training one-on-one and in group settings.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Periodic Travel is required (US/Can) (Initial Travel may be up to 25%)
  • Able to work individually or in groups, with strong self-motivation to achieve team progress with minimal supervision
  • Candidate must be willing and able to complete Green Belt Certification.
  • Must be able to maintain positive relationships and continually seek to achieve conflict resolution with positive intent.

Additional Information:

Schedule: Monday-Friday from 7a-3:30p

Pay: 38.50/hour

Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
