What you’ll do:

• Be part of a team supporting the development of an AI/ML platform that will leverage generative AI to relieve user burden across the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
• Design and implement the infrastructure of a platform of data products running in an AWS environment. Ensure the cloud infrastructure is secure, scalable, and cost-effective.
• Work collaboratively with engineering team to define SLOs/SLAs and ensure they are met.
• Facilitate blame-free root cause analysis meetings in the event of a production-systems incident so that the team can learn from mistakes and improve systems and run books.
• Handle deployments and advise engineering team on best practices.
• Build and maintain operational tools for deployment, monitoring, and analysis of AWS infrastructure and systems.
• Perform infrastructure cost analysis and optimization.
• Provide guidance, thought leadership, and mentorship to development teams to build cloud competencies.

What we’d like you to have:

• At least 10 years of experience in cloud engineering or progressive engineering experience.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
• Strong hands-on experience with the AWS stack.
• Fluent in CloudFormation and/or Terraform, AWS CDK/CLI.
• Working knowledge of Bash scripts and Jenkins.
• Experience with service orientated architectures.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
• Experience with multithreaded, distributed development.
• Knowledge of distributed computing frameworks.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

• You are constantly learning, and you keep abreast of the latest developments in NLP, LLMs, and data engineering, and you apply these advancements to improve systems.
