Equine Assistant

We have a fixed-term Equine Assistant opportunity in our Invercargill clinic from October 2024 to February 2025!

We are looking for a hardworking and reliable person to support our team over the equine breeding season. You will be based at our busy, purpose built equine veterinary hospital in Invercargill. This position could be part-time or full-time depending on the candidate.

A day in the life of an Equine Assistant includes:

• Daily stable and barn management and maintenance including but not limited to mucking out, feeding out, turning horses out and changing rugs
• Keeping our newly renovated barn and treatment areas clean and tidy
• Follow client instructions of handling or feeding horses
• Assisting vets with handling, assessing and treating inpatients
• Assisting with hospital-based consultations including horse handling, assisting with lameness investigations, diagnostic imaging and other procedures
• Participate in the weekend afterhours roster.

The right fit for our team would include:

• An understanding of the equine industry and hands-on experience working with horses
