Tooling Engineer

Our Engineering department works closely with various departments from machining, assembly, fixturing and prototyping, and quality. Collaboration across departments is crucial in the work that we do as an organization. Providing solutions and ideas for improvement are important qualities we look for in this role. We are a team who desire to grow professional and personal in our skills and abilities. Collaborating with departments to solve problems and bring new machining/tooling techniques. In this role there are opportunities learn and to bring programs from CAD/CAM to new jobs or prototype jobs. • In this role, we expect collaborating with machinists, engineers, and tool makers to provide solutions and improvements in tooling needs and tool life improvements.
• Analyze technical material as it relates to tooling.
• Learn and apply understanding of machining and materials required to produce products.
• Learn and apply understanding of solidworks and CAD cam to produce programs in various departments to meet the machining requirements.
• Provide machinists with support for their tooling needs.
• Our Engineers work closely with production and are expected to collaborate across various departments and with groups of team members; as a result your time will be spent across desk work, computer work, work in various departments, and at equipment within departments.
• Partner with our tool crib to track tooling usage and costs.
• Partner with vendors for tooling needs and purchasing solutions.

Requirements

• Previous experience in print reading is expected
• GD & T understanding and application of this understanding is desired but not required
• A high level of mechanical aptitude and applied understanding
• Previous manufacturing, machining, and production experience preferred
• Self-feeding and pursuit of continuous learning
• Collaboration through conflict is vital to this role. We don’t expect this to be mastered, however, we do expect this to be developed and grown as a part of the team.
• A high level of integrity is expected as your work leads to partnering and connecting with various departments and customers.
• A desire to solve customers' problems through design changes, tooling, and programming.
• Preferred experience in or with various CNC machining, previous CNC machining is expected
