Database Developer

Marcus & Millichap, Inc. is looking for a Database Developer with proven design and development skills to join a small, highly motivated team. The right developer will turn business requirements into applications that delight our business partners. They will collaborate with their team as well as others inside and outside IT to deliver new capabilities that move our business forward.

Responsibilities:

• You will play a crucial role in developing, testing, improving, and maintaining both new and existing databases to ensure efficient and effective data retrieval.
• Your expertise will contribute to system consistency and support our domain projects.
• Develop, test, and maintain new and existing databases to ensure efficient data retrieval and management.
• Collaborate closely with developers, administrators, and clients to provide technical support and identify new requirements.
• Ensure system consistency and reliability by adhering to best practices and coding standards.
• Design and implement database solutions, including stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views using T-SQL.
• Produce high-quality code and resolve complex design and architecture issues.
• Perform database performance tuning, diagnose and troubleshoot errors, and recommend emerging database technologies.
• Create and manage comprehensive database reports, visualizations, and dashboards.
• Automate recurring database tasks to improve efficiency.
• Maintain and enforce database standards, ensuring data integrity and security.
• Implement SSIS and SSRS for data integration and reporting.
• Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking in resolving technical challenges.

Education & Experience:

• 5 + years of experience in database development, information technology, database architecture, or a related field.
• Extensive experience with database technologies such as MS SQL.
• Strong command of SQL and SQL server tools.
• Familiarity with Azure highly desirable.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality code and follow best practices.
• Advanced knowledge of relational database concepts and database design principles.
• Proficient in writing and optimizing complex T-SQL queries and database scripts.
• Expertise in database performance tuning and troubleshooting.
• Experience with database automation tools and techniques.
• Strong organizational skills and a problem-solving attitude.
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Agile development practices including the Scrum framework.
• Team Foundation Services and Git.
• Strong work ethic requiring minimal supervision required.
• A sense of curiosity.
• Good communication skills.
