Junior Controller

The Role:

GRESB is looking for a Junior Controller to join our Business Support team and who will report directly to the Manager, Business Control. The team continuously seeks opportunities to improve its systems and methods, develop new ways to monitor and track data, and increase transparency. In addition to considering areas for operational improvements, the team aims to maximize the value it brings to management and other stakeholders.

The Business Support team currently consists of seven members: a Manager Business Control, Finance Manager, Business Controller, Finance Analyst, Legal and Compliance Manager, Operations and HR Manager, and People and Culture Generalist. Additionally, the team is supported by three Work Students who focus on billing and other finance-related tasks. You will be working at the GRESB headquarters in Amsterdam.

Key Responsibilities:

• Client management and invoicing; prepare, issue, and follow up on client invoices, ensuring accurate billing.
• Financial reporting; assist in preparing accurate and timely financial reports for management and other stakeholders.
• General ledger maintenance; assist in maintaining the general ledger to support the month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure timely financial statement production.
• Accounts Payable; ensuring correctness and completeness of AP administration and timely payments of vendors and contractors.
• Accounts Receivable; coordinating cash collection efforts and supporting the supervision of Work Students in handling client requests.
• Continuous improvement; optimize tools and systems to develop scalable, mature processes that support the company’s strategic growth.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Masters degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field
• 0-2 years’ experience in financial analysis, FP&A, or accounting/controlling
• Candidates without working experience have at least gained relevant experience working as an intern, work student, or similar
• Strong knowledge of Excel, experience with ERP systems and reporting tools is a plus
• Solid technical finance background; able to understand the core financial processes, do the financial sanity check, and build mature, scalable processes
• Analytical and eager to know what drives the figures and what the business impact is
• Ability to influence at all levels, building bridges and valuable relationships
• Fluency in English
• Must possess the right to work in the EU (non-EU applicants must already have a Dutch working permit)
