Repsol is seeking a Production Engineering intern to support the Production Engineering Team within the Eagle Ford Business Unit.

  • Internship will be based onsite at our office in The Woodlands, Texas, Monday-Friday, 40 hrs/week for 12 weeks, with the potential for field trips to visit our operated assets in Three Rivers & Runge, Texas.
  • The internship will begin on Monday May 19 and conclude on Friday August 8. (Must be available for the full program period)
  • Our interns receive a competitive hourly salary based on the degree in process as of May 2025.
  • Intern activities, Lunch & Learns, and an Intern Project fair will be organized, to add to your experience and expand your industry knowledge.

Job Description: The successful candidate will be assigned a project within an area of interest to be supervised by a senior member of the Production Engineering Team.

The Production Engineer (PE) Intern’s mission is to support the PE team to maximize returns from the Eagle Ford production in a cost-effective manner. To achieve this, the PE Intern will provide support to continually evaluate the asset’s production against potential to identify and implement optimization opportunities required to achieve the asset’s potential.

The PE Intern will be involved with all aspects of production from the sand face through to the sales point. PE involves five main processes including design/modeling, planning, monitoring, optimization and well integrity. All PE actions will drive towards the optimization of the asset’s production and profitability while maintaining compliance with all Repsol policies and Safety and Environmental regulations.

  • Support the PE team in the validation of the production back allocation process in Energy Components to analyze daily closing production figures and deferred production.
  • Support the PE team in the identification of deferred production and establish corrective actions to minimize economic and production impact on the asset.
  • Support the PE team in the compilation and analysis of available information related to reservoir qualities and surface infrastructure.
  • Support the PE team in the analysis of current lifting systems for the wells and the asset to propose and implement opportunities for optimization relating to both production and profitability.
  • Support the PE team in the compilation and analysis of all budget inputs related to OPEX to conduct budget exercises to identify opportunities for economic optimization.
  • Support the PE team in the tracking of the annual data acquisition plan for production and reservoir requirements.
  • Ability to effectively work within a multidiscipline team and matrix organization.
  • Ability to establish a strong communication channel with the field personnel
  • Coordinate field visits with your supervisor.

Requirements for Consideration:

  • Fully authorized to work for any employer in the US without sponsorship now or in the future. Additionally, we are not authorized for employment under OPT/CPT/F1 visa programs.
  • Successful completion of 2 years towards a Bachelor's (or higher) in an Engineering discipline - Petroleum or Chemical engineering preferred but open to other engineering disciplines.
  • Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors, Master’s and Ph.D. encouraged to apply
  • Must have cumulative and major GPA of 3.3 or higher, to be confirmed with transcript (unofficial transcript is acceptable)
  • Must be available for a continuous 12-week period for the duration of the 2025 summer intern program, starting May 19 th and ending on August 8 th .
  • Preference for candidates with some internship experience, ideally within oil & gas but not required.

  • Strong interest in data analysis, business analytics, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
  • Ability to work with data and derive meaningful insights.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Detail-oriented, highly motivated, and organized.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks with responsibility and precision.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and analytical methods.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Willingness to ask questions and seek guidance when needed.
  • Ability to interact in a team environment.

Required Location, Schedule, & Availability:

  • Position will be supported onsite, M-F, non-exempt (hourly) 40 hrs. per week, at our US headquarters in The Woodlands, TX.
  • Non-local candidates may be considered provided they meet the required qualifications as listed above and understand they are responsible for any travel and/or temporary housing in order to report to the assigned office.
  • Candidates must be available for the duration of the summer intern program beginning on May 19 and through Aug 8.
