Overall, Purpose & Scope

This position is to co-ordinate and lead Engineering Developments across the group. This position is the go-to person for all group wide standardisations, process definitions and overseeing the design and implementation of related manufacturing processes and equipment, ensuring group wide operational excellence.

The jobholder has the responsibility to provide guidance in resolving technical issues. Focus on optimizing and improving manufacturing plastic injection processes by applying principles of engineering, analytics, and process design to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality. Emphasis is placed on the creation and maintenance of related technical capabilities.

Immediate Objective

The individual will be responsible for development of process, tooling and equipment requirements to ensure successful introduction of PCR materials into the operation. This will involve hands on machine side trials and across group coordination of sites to deliver a common approach and set of operating standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Draft and implement a process improvement programme with clear and measurable objectives.
  2. Prioritise the work involved to give the best return based on company targets.
  3. Assist in the completion of corrective action reports in conjunction with the senior management and other relevant personnel in a timely manner.
  4. Assist in the technical training of the personnel.
  5. Promoting a teamwork culture within the facility.
  6. Ensure all operatives, setters and process technicians adhere to company policies, procedures and work instructions.
  7. Ensure all relevant documentation is filled out as per company procedures.
  8. Development and implementation of the necessary systems, procedures and protocols ensuring that they meet and adhere to Quality Management System and Design Control requirements.
  9. Compliance with all the regulations governing and the maintenance of effective Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality systems.
  10. Identification and selection of best value technologies.
  11. Priortises and drives execution of multiple complex projects. Sponsors and supports value improvement in the operation.
  12. Ensure the efficient and timely transfer of process knowledge personnel through training of local plant engineering team members on new processes and equipment.
  13. Establishes and supports a work environment of continuous improvement that supports our customer’s quality policy.
  14. Initiates cross-functional partnerships to identify and resolve production/engineering issues.
  15. Managerial, leadership and employee development, ensuring adequate training is provided to satisfy all operational and health and safety requirements. Leadership Competences Required

  • Degree in Polymer or Mechanical Engineering Preferred
  • A proven knowledge of the injection moulding process including a thorough knowledge of tooling, equipment, polymer material and precision plastic injection moulding processing.
  • Mechanically minded.
  • A strong knowledge of mould set up.
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of plastics and mould types.
  • Knowledge of automation and general ancillary equipment.
  • Excellent troubleshooting ability.
  • Ability to use troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to use scientific optimising techniques.
  • High level of computer skills. Successful Candidate will demonstrate:

  • Accomplished in meeting and exceeding the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers.
  • Successful experience working in a complex organization with multiple, geographically diverse locations.
  • Willingness to travel.
