Senior DevOps/Software Engineer

The world’s most popular audio streaming subscription service is looking for a **Senior DevOps/Software Engineer to join the band in a consultant assignment. The client has transformed music listening forever when launched in 2008.

Period: ASAP to 2025-04-30 (full-time), with a possibility of extension.

About the role

We are seeking a collaborative and curious Engineer to help drive and develop our client's VCS infrastructure forward.

Our client's Version Control System (VCS) is the heartbeat of the developer experience. Their massive growth serving 1 Billion customers has led to them closing in on operational limits, and they hence need to improve their stack and automate certain workflows in order to continue providing their engineering teams with flawless builds, integrated insights, fast local iteration time, and evolve their repo structure for speed and safety. This role will be part of a team collaboratively creating and owning the VCS infrastructure, which aims to provide developers with a streamlined, simple-to-use, and safe build experience at scale.

The role is located in the Platform Developer Experience (PDX) tribe within the Platform Mission. The PDX Studio oversees and owns the infrastructure that cuts across all engineering disciplines.

What you'll do

• Execute on the future VCS infrastructure strategy that is able to serve 3000+ engineers doing hundreds of thousands of builds daily and beyond.
• Support with operational tasks, keeping systems healthy and up-to-date.
• Drive the automation and improvements of the chosen VCS across current technical stacks.
• Help scale the VCS infrastructure to support automated systems making mass changes across the fleet of services.
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams across the company to discover what a best-in-class VCS infrastructure means.

Who you are

• You are an experienced engineer familiar with Linux and networking fundamentals.
• You are an experienced Software Engineer with Java; familiarity with Ruby would be a bonus.
• You have experience deploying to and implementing solutions in GCP or AWS.
• You believe in iteration and know that finding the right solution is more important than the first.
• You like to focus on standardization and automation; always looking for ways to improve the developer experience.
• You have 6+ years of experience in building and implementing large-scale systems across various projects and teams.
• You have familiarity with and enthusiasm for software engineering best practices such as testing, continuous integration, and continuous delivery.
