Mechanical Engineer

Position Title(s): Mechanical Engineer: Senior and Lead roles

Position Description: Mechanical Engineers work with other Mechanical Engineers, Project Managers, Controls Engineers, Builders, Technicians and other personnel to conceptualize, design, test and validate automation systems for various types of automation and robotic equipment. You will be involved with developing and fully designing equipment, layouts and subassemblies of automated robotic work cells.

Position Opportunities:

• Senior Mechanical Engineer: Substantial years’ experience in Mechanical Engineering, with recognized technical expertise, ability to lead larger projects, interface with customer, support other team members
• Lead Mechanical Engineer: Substantial years’ experience in Mechanical Engineering, demonstrated leadership and technical abilities, able to lead multiple projects, interface with customer and support team members

Responsibilities

• Develop and fully design equipment, layouts and subassemblies of automated robotic work cells in SolidWorks CAD.
• Manage and lead assigned projects and direct project teams as well as monitor design timelines.
• Interpret GD&T and Datum requirements for tooling designs.
• Ensure that equipment is designed to customer and/or Axis Automation build specifications using standard techniques and approach.
• Ensure equipment meets industry safety guidelines.
• Lead mechanical design presentations and reviews with internal team, customers and suppliers.
• Review CAD data levels and revisions that are presented in customer parts.
• Designs with NAAMS standard components.
• Real-time communication with company management and project teams on developments.
• Professional management of customer relationships and requests.
• Communicate with vendors to specify and source major purchased components.
• Ability to train and teach less experienced Mechanical Design Engineers and Co-Ops / Interns.
• Create and improve standards and procedures for the Mechanical Design department.
• Support build and assembly teams.
• Take project assignment and direction from Engineering Manager.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• 5+ years’ experience designing automated machinery required.
• Direct knowledge of automated assembly processes with a preference for welding experience.
• Proven experience developing comprehensive design packages.
• 5+ years working experience with parametric 3D CAD software, SolidWorks preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word.

Salary: $80,000-$110,000

Additional Compensation: Overtime pay, year-end bonus, employee referral bonus, customer referral bonus
