About the Role

As the Head of Design Research at Innovaccer, you will be instrumental in driving our understanding of user needs and experiences. This role requires a visionary leader who can conduct deep qualitative research and synthesize insights that inform product design and strategy in the health/medical technology sector

A Day in the Life

• Your mission will be to uncover deep user insights and translate them into actionable recommendations that shape our product development, to translate user needs, best practices, and industry expectations into plans and programs that will shape the product roadmaps.
• You will direct and conduct comprehensive qualitative research, utilizing various qualitative methods to gather rich user data. Your focus will be on understanding the nuanced behaviors, motivations, and needs of our users, particularly in the healthcare context. Working closely with Analytics and Business Intelligence teams to ensure the right quantitative data is being captured and translating it into both insights, provocations, and new areas to research.
• Leadership will be at the core of your responsibilities. You will mentor and guide a talented team of researchers, fostering a culture of curiosity and rigor. Through regular team meetings, training sessions, and personalized coaching, you will ensure that every team member is equipped to excel and contribute valuable insights.
• You will establish robust research processes and methodologies that ensure the quality and reliability of our findings. By defining best-in-class research practices and continuous education programs, you will ensure that new team members are quickly integrated and existing team members continuously develop their skills.
• Collaboration will be a key aspect of your role. You will partner closely with Product Design, Engineering, Product Management, Data Science, and other departments to ensure that research insights are effectively integrated into our product development processes. Your ability to communicate and influence across these teams will be critical in ensuring that user insights drive product decisions.
• Innovation will be a constant pursuit. Staying abreast of industry trends and advancements in research methodologies, you will advocate for and adopt cutting-edge tools and practices. By doing so, you will ensure that Innovaccer remains a leader in health/medical technology design research.
• Your ability to work flexibly across time zones will be crucial in bridging the gap between our teams in San Francisco, India, and the UAE. You will coordinate effectively with global teams, ensuring smooth communication and collaboration despite the geographical distance. This flexibility will enable you to build on the strengths of all teams, ensuring that research projects are continuously moving forward.

What You Need

• Proven success in conducting and leading qualitative research, with a focus on user needs and behaviors.
• Strong analytical and synthesis skills with a deep understanding of various qualitative research methodologies. Proficiency in research tools and software.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire research teams. Strong coaching and mentoring skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting with all levels of management and staff. Ability to present research findings effectively at executive meetings.
• Ability to work across time zones and travel internationally as needed.

Bonus Points For:

• Advanced degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Anthropology, or related field.
• Experience with mid-to-late-stage startups in growth phase.
• Familiarity with the US healthcare and medical system.
