About the Role:

We are seeking a Senior Infrastructure and Cloud Engineer, Location – THQ Blackburn, VIC for a Max-Term (12 months) opportunity.

Purpose of the Role:

The Senior Infrastructure and Cloud Engineer at The Salvation Army Australia Territory (TSA) is a pivotal role focused on managing and optimizing the organization's server and cloud infrastructure. This position involves overseeing critical components such as Azure, AWS, HyperV, VMware, vSphere, Microsoft Server environments, Office 365, Active Directory, Azure AD, and cloud storage solutions.

Leveraging extensive experience in IT infrastructure management, the Senior Infrastructure and Cloud Engineer will design and implement innovative infrastructure solutions that align with TSA's evolving needs. The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to assess requirements, architect server and platform infrastructure, and ensure seamless integration with existing systems.

Key responsibilities include monitoring IT infrastructure performance, identifying and resolving issues, implementing security measures, and optimizing configurations for performance, reliability, and scalability. The role also involves infrastructure capacity planning, staying current with emerging technologies, and recommending enhancements and upgrades.

Additionally, the Senior Infrastructure and Cloud Engineer will document infrastructure designs and procedures, contribute to the development of IT policies and standards, and coordinate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to manage infrastructure projects and resolve technical challenges.

Through strong technical expertise, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities, this role will ensure that TSA's infrastructure remains robust, secure, and aligned with the organization's strategic objectives.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

This position demands a high level of expertise in enterprise systems architecture, with responsibilities that include designing and implementing flexible, enterprise-grade solutions that align with business needs and industry best practices.

  • Expert Guidance: Provide expert advice on enterprise systems architecture, leveraging extensive experience to inform strategic decisions.
  • Design and Implementation: Develop and implement scalable infrastructure solutions that meet business requirements and adhere to best practices.
  • System Analysis: Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of infrastructure systems, recommending enhancements and optimizations to improve performance.
  • Vendor Collaboration: Work with external vendors and subject matter experts to integrate advanced solutions into the existing network architecture.
  • Architecture Review: Act as a key contributor in the TSA Architecture Review Forum (ARF), ensuring IT infrastructure aligns with strategic goals.
  • Backup and Recovery: Develop and execute robust backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor and optimize the performance and capacity of IT infrastructure systems, including Azure, AWS, HyperV, VMware, vSphere, Microsoft Server environments, Office 365, Active Directory, and cloud storage.
  • IT Security: Provide expert guidance on IT infrastructure security, implementing measures to protect modern infrastructure platforms.
  • Application Availability: Ensure the availability and security of critical applications by applying infrastructure configurations that meet service management policies.
  • Technical Documentation: Create and maintain accurate technical documentation and diagrams for the team, reflecting changes in the infrastructure environment.
  • Knowledge Management: Update knowledge management documentation to facilitate information sharing and keep the team informed.
  • Reporting: Prepare problem and incident reports, and generate regular reports on infrastructure availability, performance, and capability to support continuous improvement.
  • Training: Develop and deliver user-friendly training materials to help end-users maximize the use of IT infrastructure.
  • Process Improvement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline departmental processes and adapt to evolving technology and best practices.
  • Project Management: Take ownership of project planning and scoping, manage vendor relationships, and leverage technical expertise to achieve critical business outcomes.

Education Qualifications:

Educational Background:

Degree in Computer Science or Business Information Systems is preferable.

Certifications:

Relevant IT certifications such as Azure Administrator Associate, other Azure certifications, Microsoft Fundamentals or Associate, ITIL V3/V4 Foundations.

Experience:

  • Industry Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience in supporting infrastructure technologies within a large, complex enterprise environment.
  • Operating Systems: Experience with Windows 10, Windows 11, and Microsoft Server Operating Systems (2016, 2019, 2022).
  • Microsoft Services: Experience with Active Directory, Azure AD, DHCP, DNS, DFS, NPS, Group Policy, IIS.
  • Virtualization: Experience with VMware technologies including vCenter, vSphere, vSAN, NSX-T, and Dell EMC VxRail.
  • Endpoint Management: Experience with Microsoft Endpoint Manager, including System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Intune.
  • Cloud Platforms: Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop and advanced experience with the Azure Cloud platform.
  • Security and Compliance: Familiarity with Essential Eight, Information Security Manual (ISM), and Right Fit For Risk (RFFR) controls and implementation.
  • Scripting Skills: Advanced scripting skills in PowerShell or VBScript.
  • Development: Proven experience in developing and supporting Azure cloud-based applications.
  • Development Methods: Knowledge of best practices in Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

Requirements of the role:

  • A national police record check is required.
