As a Flight Dynamics Engineer (all genders), you will significantly contribute to the design, development, and certification of the Microliner, in particular to address the design challenges that come along a slender wing with integrated batteries. You will further detail the design of the lifting surfaces and mass distribution, setting targets and requirements for both direct team members, as well as partners of VÆRIDION that support in the design and evaluation of the aircraft structure and avionics. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that the design meets the stringent performance, safety, and regulatory standards. The work includes further developing and implementing design guidelines and procedures.
Your Day-to-Day:
- Contribute significantly to the definition, sizing, specification, development, and integration of the wing-battery integration.
- Proactively lead and execute technical tasks within the Flight Physics Department for the Microliner’s development and certification, from capturing technical requirements to demonstrating compliance.
- Perform flight dynamic simulations of current designs and perform design-of-experiments on candidate designs.
- Determine the aircraft’s response to atmospheric turbulence and propose means to improve ride quality.
- You will define part of the scope and be involved in the wind tunnel and structural test campaigns.
- Actively participate in major program milestones such as PDR, CDR, First Flight, and Type Certification.
- Provide full engineering support in the preparation and execution of flight testing campaigns.
- Engineering degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
- Solid understanding of flight dynamics, eigenmotions, aircraft loads, aeroelasticity, and handling qualities; fundamentals in aerodynamics, rigid body dynamics, statics, and dynamics.
- Proven experience of at least 5 years in flight dynamics and loads within an aerospace OEM.
- Demonstrated experience with various levels of fidelity of simulation.
- Quantify model limitations and uncertainties.
- Experience with analysis tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, and Ansys.
- Experience with experimental testing and model validation is a plus.
- Practical experience with aircraft certification programs (preferably EASA/FAA Part 23 or 25).
- Experience working in an EASA Part 21J Design Organization, or international equivalent.
- Assertive and clear communication skills, results-oriented, with a strong sense of ownership.
- Ability to interact efficiently with authorities, suppliers, and internal organizational units.
- Proven ability to prioritize, manage, and execute multiple simultaneous tasks.
- Skilled in navigating early design uncertainties and driving progress through proactive proposals.
- Positive and optimistic attitude, with a collaborative approach in a multicultural team.
- Passionate about aviation and the electrification of the aviation industry.
- Fluent English language skills are essential, fluent German or other language would be beneficial.
- Be part of an ambitious team determined to shape the future of aviation.
- Enjoy flexible working hours: we believe in ownership and trust.
- Subsidized EGYM Wellpass membership: your (mental) health is important for us.
- Become a part of our success with virtual stock options.
- Boost your professional as well as personal growth executing your own ideas and independent projects.
- Join our internal social events and retreats (e.g. cooking, game nights, sports).
