This position is part of our Signal & Power Solutions segment; Connection Systems business unit located in Saltillo Coahuila Mexico

Summary (About this Position):

The Aptiv Connection Systems Team is looking for a MePa Process Engineer to join the North America Flow 4 Manufacturing Engineering Team. The MePa Process Engineer is responsible for coordinating and follow up of all the activities concerning a new F4 project launch with a relentless attitude working with rigor and pace to execute project activities related to software/programing and automated assembly processes such as prep terminals, potting dispensing and curing, resistance welding, heat stacking and EOL tester integration with molding equipment. This position interacts directly with different stakeholders like Suppliers, Program Management, Purchasing, SQE, APQP, PE, Molding TE, etc. with the aim to fulfill Flawless project launch execution.

This position is to support activities in the Device portfolio (MePa division), reporting directly to MePa Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor.

Your Role (i.e. Key Job Responsibilities):

  • Establish, document, and follow new project launch evidence milestones into share drive.
  • Ensure project deliverables are met (MQ1, MQ2, Stress runs for PPAP preparation, R@R etc.)
  • Responsible to align manufacturing equipment capabilities with product specifications.
  • Document and Implement lessons learned from previous projects.
  • Perform supplier design reviews to mitigate risk of equipment bad performance.
  • Work with suppliers, purchasing, SQE, PE, TE, plant mfg., plant quality to resolve issues.
  • Provide support & lead technical presentations. Manage time/work in support of program launches.
  • Provide customer support through visits at meetings or in site with OEM, next tier supplier plant.
  • Maintain professional and responsive equipment supplier contact.

Your Required Background (i.e. Must Haves):

  • Education: Mechatronics, Electromechanical Engineering or Experience on the custom manufacturing equipment for assembly development.
  • High level of English proficiency (90% or higher).
  • Problem solving skills, product drawing interpretation, GD&T, and stack up tolerance studies.
  • PLC programing (any platform).
  • GD&T and drawing interpretation.
  • SCADA systems development.
  • Homologation and development of inspections systems (2D cameras, 3D scanners).
  • Silicon dispensing and curing.
  • Leak testing.
  • Electrical test knowledge high pot and low voltage, pogo pin selection for specific applications.
  • Laser marking/etching DMC and alphanumeric.
  • Servo motors and drives.
  • MSA and statistical applied to process performance improvement.
  • Troubleshoot software related issues with equipment functions, track I/O requirements with HMI, network, sensors etc. to comply with next step equipment operation.
  • Selection of robot for applied assembly manufacturing.
  • Terminal / Pins bending and singulation operations using stamping dies.
  • CAD software knowledge NX, Solid Works (40% or higher).
  • Familiar in component manufacturing processes (plastic molding, stampings, machining).
  • Ability to work independently and motivate others.
  • Develop and maintain project timelines for internal and customer usage.
  • Work with multiple departments to release manufacturing cells.
  • Experience engineering changes, and manufacturing product release.
  • Experience with manufacturing documentation development PFMEA, PFD, GANT.
  • Possess sufficient CAD skills to open, manipulate, assemble, of 3D component models.
  • Full understanding of automation capabilities to assess if a product can work as an input for an automation subprocess, and if so determine which level of automation would be a good fit.
  • USA Visa and MX passport.

  • Prior experience in manufacturing, engineering.
  • Ability to effectively organize, prioritize and accomplish multiple conflicting tasks, make intelligent, timely decisions and solve problems independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Project, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Skype, Teams etc.).
  • Strong results-orientation and execution characteristics
  • Resourcefully innovative and adapts in a rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a strong ability to work with a team
  • Strong presence, poise and persuasiveness to establish a high level of credibility quickly
