Design Specialist

The Design Specialist, reports to the Design Service Supervisor. The Design Specialist is responsible for supporting unique cabinetry design projects for both internal and external stakeholders. Although this position is non-supervisory, it plays a critical role by utilizing customer sketches, planning guides, and/or blueprints. The Specialist, Design II provides technical and design support to business partners including designers, customers, builders, account managers, and MasterBrand associates. In addition, this role includes offering concierge-level service with an emphasis on professional interactions and managing administrative tasks related to cabinetry design production.

YOUR ROLE:

• Creates high-quality, detailed, and precise designs for kitchens, bathrooms, and other rooms based on customer sketches, planning guides, or blueprints using 20/20 Design Software.
• Addresses and resolves inconsistencies in drawings, text, sketches, and blueprints provided by dealers.
• Develops and documents unique installation instructions to ensure successful implementation of designs.
• Manages the organization of designs by keeping all hardcopy and electronic documentation of the design and the 20/20 Design file.
• Exhibits extensive expertise in various cabinet lines, capable of transitioning between them daily with precision.
• Communicates and collaborates with designers, account managers, MasterBrand associates, and end consumers in a professional manner.
• Develops in-depth knowledge of all MasterBrand strategic business units. Leverages ideas from other reviews and co-workers to provide value-added recommendations and best practices to others.
• Consistently demonstrates the MasterBrand Way, positioning the company for growth and helping identify opportunities to reduce waste, complexity, and improve our work environment.

Requirements

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

• Ability to prioritize and manage competing customer requests.
• Expert knowledge of the 20/20 Design tool required.
• Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with management, co-workers, and clients.
• Knowledge of MasterBrand Cabinetry Specifications or Cabinet Industry preferred.
• Project management experience preferred.
• Positive, self-motivated, and team-oriented attitude and approach.
• Effective communication (written and verbal); clearly, concisely and with context communicate objectives and expectations with customers, team members, and management.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PDF.
• Design, Editing, or Customer Service experience preferred.
• Ability to provide Product Specifications and Design support for various product and software inquiries.
• Ability to travel 5% annually (domestically).

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• An associate’s degree and/or three years of equivalent work experience preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The individual must be able to remain in a stationary position for 90% of the time and constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. This includes typing, clicking, and writing. Frequently positions self to maintain information in drawers and shelving. The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information. Ability to read documents, emails, and computer screens, as well as see details on printed materials and presentations. Consistently works in an indoor setting. While traveling, the individual in this position needs to occasionally move about on the plant floor when going on plant tours and attending team meetings.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is a remote position with the ideal candidate capable of working efficiently and independently from their home office to fulfill assigned tasks and meet deadlines. As a remote employee the candidate will need internet connectivity capable of supporting virtual communication tools that allow for collaboration with team members, attendance of meetings, and participation in company activities. The ideal candidate will be required to set up and maintain a suitable home office environment conducive to productivity. This includes having a dedicated workspace with a comfortable chair, desk, and adequate lighting. The candidate is expected to travel 5% of their time to go on plant tours and attend team meetings This travel may require overnight stays and may be multiple days in duration.
