What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

• Technical lead for the interior or exterior Surface Team and responsible for overall surface development, execution, quality, and timeline for either sub-team.
• Acts as a mentor and point-of-contact for both internal and external surface engineers; in terms of surface execution/techniques, engineering criteria, and aesthetic direction/studio design intent.
• Drive optimization into engineering criteria and strives for best-in-class execution that is feasible, while preserving the design theme.
• Create 3D surface models at an expert-level for large scale projects using 3D Experience, Alias, or ICEM surf.
• Prepare, compile, and present data to senior leadership by acting as the chair for regular surface and design reviews.
• Drive and track feasibility and surface development to accommodate program timelines and meet end deliverables via surface releases of the utmost quality.

Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, MI. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or industrial design; or equivalent experience.
• Deep experience with the surface and vehicle development process; past experience working in a studio environment.
• Ability to create 3D surface at an expert-level in all phases of a program – from concept/sketch modeling through the final production A-class.
• Complete vehicle engineering and feasibility knowledge gained from past programs and prior companies.
• Ability to collaborate with other teams to drive issues to closure; embraces working cross-functionally and through ambiguity.
• Strong leadership presence: an ability to present effectively and concisely to senior leaders and to also act as a mentor to other surface modelers.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $150,000-$180,000

Internal leveling code: IC7
