Purpose of the Role

As a member of our hardware test engineering team, you will deliver robust test solutions that ensure the quality and reliability of McLaren Applied’s products throughout all their life-cycle stages: development, manufacture and customer release.

You will help drive continuous improvement in the efficiency and effectiveness of test projects, used across McLaren Applied’s diverse product range, by contributing both disciplined best practice and innovation.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Contribute to all aspects of the team’s work, from test requirements capture to written specification of test strategies, to design and documentation of test and measurement systems and their integration with the product under test, through to analysis of test performance statistics.

  • Design and develop motorsport and Automotive -quality test projects for use in the life-cycle testing of McLaren Applied products, in accordance with the relevant industry testing regulations and standards.

  • Author detailed test system design specifications which will be the reference for the design and commissioning of the test system.

  • You will champion Design for Test (DfT), with an appreciation of all DfX, to ensure that product designs are optimised for all test activities, and particularly manufacturing test.

  • Collaborate with systems engineers and product hardware and software engineers, from across McLaren Applied, throughout each product’s development and production life-cycles.

  • You will work to established engineering processes, including ISO26262-compliant processes.

  • Working in a team which is responsible for many projects you will work on various concurrent projects, and work to meet specified timescales.

  • You may contribute to the maintenance of existing test systems, providing fault finding support where necessary.

  • This role suits a well-organised, motivated engineer who is excited about developing their career in a wide range of electronic engineering disciplines.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Have a first-class degree or upper 2nd in a related engineering subject, or equivalent experience.

  • Has worked in a comparable role/industry.

  • Have demonstrable experience in electronic hardware life-cycle test design.

  • Have demonstrable experience in measurement & instrumentation design.

  • Have proven experience in requirements capture and writing technical proposals to meet product requirements.

  • Are able to debug and solve problems at system and circuit level.

  • Are highly motivated, organized and confident in managing work and taking responsibility for project delivery.

  • Enjoy collaborating with others, across disciplines, to produce elegant, far-sighted solutions.

  • Are experienced in writing clear, formal technical documentation.

  • Are thorough and rigorous in all your work.

  • Have very good spoken and written English.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of automotive technologies & control systems.

  • Experience in boundary scan test development and its DfT requirements.

  • Experience in ICT test development and its DfT requirements.

  • Experience in HV safety.

  • Experience in Polarion, qTest, Python, JIRA, TeamCenter.
