About the Role & Team

The Data Science and Machine Learning team here at theScore is responsible for building models and systems to help improve theScore Bet, ESPN Bet and iCasino products. Our team values creativity, collaboration, ingenuity, and ownership. A few recent projects have involved recommender systems, time-series forecasting of key metrics and using generative AI to understand customer reviews better.In this co-op program, you will gain hands-on experience with the entire data science lifecycle, from data wrangling and cleaning to analysis, visualization and deployment. You will work alongside experienced Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers on projects, contributing to the development of data-driven solutions for our company.

About the Work:

  • Assist with data collection and extraction from various sources
  • Clean and pre-process large datasets for analysis
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies
  • Develop and implement data visualizations and dashboards to communicate insights effectively
  • Participate in the development and evaluation of machine learning models (depending on the project)
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging data science trends and technologies
  • Document your work clearly and concisely
  • Attend team meetings and actively participate in discussions
  • Other duties as required

About You:

  • Enrolled in a bachelor's or master's program in computer science, statistics, mathematics, or a related field
  • Strong programming skills in Python
  • Understanding of SQL for exploratory data analysis
  • Familiarity with data analysis libraries like pandas, NumPy, or scikit-learn
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • A passion for learning and a willingness to take on new challenges

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with (or at least understanding of) cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Experience with machine learning algorithms
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
