Senior Software Engineer

CData Software is on the hunt for a dynamic Senior Software Engineer/ Architect to lead the development of our CData Sync product. In this role, you’ll not only spearhead the development and maintenance of our flagship ETL/ELT Data Ingestion platform but also have the opportunity to build and lead a talented team of engineers.

The right candidate for this role will have strong problem-solving skills, a track record for getting things done, and be a highly collaborative individual, capable of working across multiple teams involved with product. Location(s): North Carolina Research Triangle or East Coast (preferred)

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work within a globally distributed development team that delivers CData Sync
  • Collaborate with Product Management on designing product features, creating technical designs and driving delivery with the team.
  • Collaborate in identifying and executing any necessary proof of concepts required for product design work.
  • Work with our support team on identifying and resolving complex technical issues, including potential product improvements resulting from them.
  • Work with other product groups within the organization to manage cross-product dependencies as well as help define common patterns or solutions applicable across a broader product portfolio.
  • Propose technical alternatives for solving complex problems of data connectivity and integration, including query execution optimization, caching, reliability, and similar. The candidate would also be expected to help the team define detailed implementation plans for selected alternatives when necessary.
  • Contribute to making the team more effective and efficient including:
    • Mentoring junior engineers joining the team.
    • Proposing improvements to the code structure, testing process, and overall design that solve complex issues across multiple products.
  • Participate and support the release process.
  • Identify changes that make the system(s) more efficient and/or reduces operation or maintenance costs.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience with Java programming (Java 1.8 and up.)
  • Experience consuming REST and SOAP based web services, or working with file formats like CSV and Parquet are desirable.
  • Experience implementing Web-based applications.
  • Experience connecting with a wide variety of relational and non-relational databases.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
  • ETL/ELT experience preferred.
  • Experience working with data warehouses and tools such as Snowflake, Google BigQuery, Databricks, etc. is preferred.
  • Experience working with Change Data Capture (CDC) processes in relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle) is a plus.
