Company Overview:

At Relativity Space, we have two audacious goals: to build the next great commercial launch company with Terran R and to become America's leading force in additive manufacturing innovation. Both contribute to our long-term vision of creating humanity’s industrial base on Mars, paving the way for interplanetary life to expand the possibilities of the human experience. This journey begins right here on Earth – where we design, build, and fly rockets to deliver customer payloads to orbit. Terran R, our medium-to-heavy lift reusable rocket, fulfills the growing demand for launch capacity, thanks to our iterative approach that accelerates design, testing, and development while minimizing costs. While our groundbreaking research and development in 3D printing pushes the boundaries of large-scale additive manufacturing.

Your journey with us is more than just a job – it’s an opportunity to shape the future of aerospace technology, additive manufacturing, and the human experience alongside a community of passionate, creative individuals. Join us on this extraordinary journey, as we work together to transform our vision into reality.

About the Team:

The Manufacturing team is building the factory of the future. Disrupting over 60 years of aerospace manufacturing, this team has a wide variety of responsibilities—from determining the most efficient factory floor layout, to building out cells for some of the largest 3D printers in the world. Unique to Relativity, you will get to work across many teams to iterate and support Relativity's first-of-its-kind 3D printing software and robotics technology. Overall, this team is critical to the launch success of Terran RR, among many other firsts!

What you'll do:

  • Define, architect, and establish an optimized, efficient product flow of flight hardware through the Factory
  • Identify capital tooling and work center capability needs and lead the efforts of standing up key Factory capabilities
  • Help drive the development of business tools and processes that will be used to manufacture the first launch vehicle
  • Define and pilot the long-term ERP, MES, and QMS solutions that will enable high-quality, efficient vehicle manufacturing

Skills/Competencies we're looking for:

  • Obtaining BS or MS in aerospace, mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial engineering
  • Interest in typical manufacturing execution systems and quality management systems
  • To be successful in this role, you need to be able to thrive in ambiguity, identify problems and quickly resolve them, and provide definition to the previously undefined
  • You will need to balance a scrappy, get-it-done attitude with a vision for the long-term processes required for scaling and efficiency!
  • We believe varied perspectives & backgrounds strengthen our team. Prior experience in aerospace is not required.

Past intern projects (just a few examples!)

  • Tested flight quick disconnects
  • Implemented computer vision on the robots to implemented live depth data
  • Worked on adding automated sanding/grinding capabilities to our print cells
  • Worked on test stand infrastructure to help run tests more often and more efficiently
  • Oversaw designing the PCB for the High Voltage Battery Management System (HVBMS)
  • Helped set up an anomaly detection framework for stargate printers
  • Printed rocket engine parts!
