Lumentum is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Robotic Process Engineer (Co-op/Intern)

What will you do in this role?

In this role, you will be responsible for the following…

  • Helping the Process Engineers build prototype devices and engineering samples of the product for robotic automation;

  • Lead the assembly of tools and jigs. To assist with developing improved tooling and tool support strategies for automated manufacturing;

  • Prepare and review technical documentation of procedures, publish results and provide training to technicians;

  • Evaluate, interpret and respond to measured product data in a timely fashion;

  • Apply Lean techniques to improve process outcomes and tool performance;

  • Liaise with the Product and Test Engineering groups in respect to test results and device performance;

  • Working within a cleanroom environment with the prerequisite use of cleanroom clothing.

What experience will allow you the greatest success in this role?

Recommended Education:

  • background that includes mechanical or electrical engineering, materials science, physics, computer science or directly related disciplines**.**

Skills:

  • Hands on experience that includes mechanical assemblies, epoxy application, packaging process and equipment.
  • Experience with CAD software (SolidEdge, SolidWorks, or equivalent)
  • Familiar with Lab/manufacturing tools an asset: Microscopes, Coordinate measuring machines (CMM), profilometers, 3d printers, etc.
  • Familiar with robotic or automation processes
  • Familiar with software/hardware programing
  • Familiar with vision systems
  • Experience with basic machine shop tools an asset (drill press, mill, etc)
