About the Role

This position is an opportunity for an experienced electrical engineer to lead and expand the energy sector of the business, delivering renewable energy systems, innovation, sustainability to our current and emerging client base. The team is deeply involved in roof top solar design, integrated batteries, microgrids and electrical vehicle charging networks. These elements also integrate across all of our building industry sectors.

Working with a team committed to developing innovative designs for high-performance buildings, the successful applicant will play a fundamental role in the oversite of this evolving industry both in Victoria and Nationally. You can expect exposure to exciting, challenging projects, support from management team who wants you to progress and grow in the energy sector.

The role

  • Lead the energy sector for Victoria and nationally continuing to developing and expanding the sector for the firm maintain current client relationship and fostering new opportunities.
  • Provide technical consultancy services to clients of the firm across various projects, including advisory services to clients during the design, procurement, and construction stages of renewable energy systems.
  • Provide technical engineering guidance to the Introba team including training emerging engineers and cross discipline collaboration.
  • Support Team Leads to plan projects, optimize resources managing project timelines, budget, and talented resources.
  • Lead a design team through the entire project life cycle, supporting the team in client meetings, collaborating with other disciplines and consultants, coordinating site services and electrical requirements, and performing field reviews.
  • Undertake the design of cost-effective, efficient, and dependable renewable energy systems encompassing solar, energy storage, HV integration, and microgrids for both in front of and behind the meter systems.
  • You will carry out feasibility studies and develop customized procurement strategies that align with our clients' requirements. These strategies will outline the project's scope, timeline, budget, and expected outcomes, ensuring an effective approach to procurement.
  • Keep in touch and informed with the latest industry trends, research, and regulatory developments in the field of renewable energy.
  • Engagement with contractors, vendors, and other relevant stakeholders to meet project outcomes.
  • Lead the technical delivery for projects from concept to implementation for all renewable energy initiatives.

What you bring to the team:

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience designing electrical systems.

  • Recent project experience in the renewable energy sector.

  • Australian Qualifications Framework - Bachelor Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma associated with the built environment and ideally working towards CPEng

  • Engineering registration: National Engineers Register (NER), Professional Engineer (Electrical) with the Building Licensing Authority, CPEng with Engineers Australia or similar.

  • A passion for energy systems and renewable energy; to advance knowledge in this space and apply emerging technologies to projects focused on the built environment.

  • Clean Energy Council (CEC) accreditation for Solar PV Design or similar.

  • A growth mindset to constantly challenge the status quo, to develop optimised solutions for each project.

  • Excellent advisory and reporting skills - the ability to analyse various sources of information, and clearly communicate these complex ideas with less technical stakeholders.

  • A collaborative nature โ€“ keen to share knowledge with the team and drive excellence across a range of projects.

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel.

  • Strong report writing, communication and consulting skills.

  • Knowledge of various design software and tools is not mandatory, but the role will likely include the use of software such as Helioscope, Orkestra, Powercad, NREL System Advisor Model, Homer and ETAP.

  • Experience with high voltage systems up to 22kV.

  • Organised and effective team member, able to work easily with others, and effectively delegate.

  • Possess advanced interpersonal skills with clients and staff, along with advanced communication and coaching abilities.
