Lead Software Engineer

For us, this era means our teams need to be in a position to collaborate and deliver. To do this, we're seeking additional skilled Lead Software Engineers to join our team across Product, Operations and Customer.

With a focus on backend engineering, this is the certainly time to ditch the comfort zone and join us to level up, step into your scale up era, and really develop your skillset and experience as a Lead Software Engineer at Gymshark.

What you’ll be doing:

• Building scalable software leveraging Event Driven Architecture and AWS Serverless technologies such as; Lambda, EventBridge, SQS, DynamoDB
• Working closely with the other Engineering teams to build APIs (REST & GraphQL) to support and deliver world class features for our Customers
• Adopting a true leadership approach through being a true role model for the team
• Enabling and enforcing the team to create testable, maintainable, observable and scalable software following Tech standards
• Setting out architectural direction and ensure the team is delivering it iteratively to meet business deliverables
• Design and document architectural diagrams and key design decisions
• Work with engineering leadership to provide other Engineers with development and learning opportunities

What you’ll need:

• Ability to implement event driven architecture across multiple teams
• Experience in designing, building and maintaining APIs
• Ability to showcase design and development of scalable software solutions to ensure services can meet forecasted demand
• Experience implementing quality and testing best practices within the services you produce, such as unit testing and contract testing
• Experience designing, setting up databases as well as have an understanding of relational and non-relational approaches
• Experience building solutions using CI/CD and IaC
• Understands the importance of utilising Tech Debt & can articulate the value in addressing it
• Demonstrable knowledge of Agile practices, such as Kanban and Scrum
• Proactive in adopting new technologies and sharing and applying this into engineering solutions
• Role modelling behaviours and communication in and outside the team to all levels of seniority
• Great communication skills to easily convey complex problems to different stakeholders

WHAT YOU COULD ALSO HAVE:

• Experience implementing security best practices within the services you produce
• Commercial Awareness and a creative problem solver with the ability to think laterally
• Understanding of cost and value drivers within a competitive business environment, with a focus on balancing the cost and efficiency of architecture alongside the total cost of ownership
• Be a collaborative team player who is comfortable working in a high pressure, fast paced environment where identifying issues & implementing solutions

Please Note: This is a hybrid role and would require the successful candidate to attend at least 3+ days a week in GSHQ, Solihull, UK.
