Position Summary

As a member of the professional staff, contributes general knowledge and skill in a discipline area (e.g., Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Resources, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) to support team and/or department objectives. Generally, works under limited supervision, but within established guidelines, producing and analyzing more complex business information to assist in the decision-making process.

Job Summary

Analyzes, designs, and develops technical solutions (interfaces, performance tuning, utilities or diagnostics) to technical and business problems. Provides level 2 and 3 technical support. Provides training to level 1 technicians. Develops solutions for internal and PMO sponsored projects. Performs capacity planning to predict usage trends for upcoming hardware/software needs. Makes recommendations to management for systems and supporting infrastructure purchases. Participates in assigned projects. Manage a team of Senior Systems Engineers. Coordinates and evaluates data circuit orders and reviews monthly billing for discrepancies.

Expected Contributions

  • Manage a team of Network Architects with day-to-day and long-term tasks.
  • Juniper experience strongly preferred.
  • Set priorities and goals for the team and individuals.
  • Provide constructive feedback to team members.
  • Provides Level II and Level III technical support and administration for network-based operating systems such as Cisco IOS, Juniper Junos, F5 load balancer, and Infoblox NIOS (8+ years of experience).
  • Provides Level II and Level III technical support and administration for Routing and Switching (8+ years of experience).
  • Provides Level II and Level III technical support and administration for network load balancing (8+ years of experience).
  • Provides Level II and Level III technical support and administration for DNS and DHCP (8+ years of experience).
  • Develop, define and create best practices processes for Network infrastructure, Data Circuit technologies and Wan design.
  • Participate in a regular on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support.
  • Works with all IT teams to develop solutions and provide knowledge domain expertise.
  • Designs and administers security practices to meet various regulatory and policy requirements.
  • Acts as subject matter expert for all Network.
  • Acts as subject matter expert for all Load balancer related activities.
  • Acts as subject matter expert for all DNS and DHCP related activities.
  • Acts as subject matter expert for all Wireless, Circuit, and Wan designs.
  • Resolve customer incidents and problems rapidly.
  • Lead advanced troubleshooting efforts.
  • Coordinate & participate service/support needs with vendors, technical support, application support, infrastructure support.
  • Follow best practices for supported technology.
  • Test and deploy security patches to identity systems to help maintain PCI, SOX and other regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Develop documentation and train Level I technicians.
  • Works within MVW change and release policies when implementing changes.
  • Maintains, analyzes and troubleshoots the various and compute infrastructure to ensure all services optimally structured to provide defined service levels for:

- Uptime

- Stability

- Performance

- Quality

  • Performs capacity planning and makes recommendations to ensure these optimum levels are achieved and sustained, and consistently improved.
  • Troubleshoots advanced problems within all areas of IT.
  • Participates on projects requiring Networking solutions.
  • Develop automation scripts and custom scripts for support, monitoring and metrics gathering.
  • Assess risks and recommended enhancements or alternatives.
  • Open, track and report on data circuit outages.
  • Develop relationships with circuit providers for escalation paths.
  • Asist with circuit orders and monthly billing reviews.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Candidate Profile

Education

  • BA/B S technology or related degree or equivalent technical certification and experience

Related Work Experience

  • 8+ years’ work experience in a similar network engineering position
  • 8+ years’ work experience in technical troubleshooting
  • Prior management of a technical team
  • Cisco and/or Juniper certifications preferred
