Job Description

Position Overview

As a Manager, Renewable Engineering (Wind), you will lead a team of project engineers who perform activities spanning prospecting through construction phases for utility scale wind projects throughout the United States. You will be responsible for managing project engineers, collaborating with team leads to strategize and plan work streams, reviewing and approving work products, and representing the team and company while interfacing with internal/external technical and non-technical groups. This position will be located in our Chicago headquarters.

You will lead a hardworking team of project engineers that share a passion for renewable energy.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a junior wind project engineering team with focus on critical issues including site characterization, basis of design, energy assessment, risk analysis and other duties as required to support the development, design, and construction of utility scale wind energy plants.
  • Identify, hire, onboard and train new wind engineers to support the growth of the company.
  • Track engineering status on regional portfolio of projects.
  • Support project engineers and project teams to prepare engineering deliverables and proposals in response to RFPs and to secure contracts to sell energy.
  • Review scopes of work, commercial offtake, and BOP contracts.
  • Communicate with senior leaders and collaborate with peers within the company to integrate process flows.
  • Collaborate with the Development, Origination, Pre-Construction, Project Management, Procurement, Environmental, Legal, Regulatory and other teams to support wind project development, engineering, and construction.
  • Collaborate with Project Management, Procurement, Project Electrical Engineering, SCADA, and Operations teams leading up to and through project commercial operations.
  • Represent Invenergy LLC with customers, state and local officials, industry associations and other stakeholders.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Ability to travel (no more than 25%)
  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • 7+ years of applicable experience including people management
  • Master’s degree or Professional Engineering License
  • Experience in wind or other energy field
  • Experience managing and building multi-disciplined engineering teams Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft products
  • Strong engineering, organizational, networking, leadership, and time management skills
