Engineering Director

As the Engineering Director for the Web & Ecommerce Team at Vention, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and delivery of our ecommerce platform. You will lead a talented group of engineers, working closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to drive the technical vision and strategy of our ecommerce solutions. Your leadership and technical expertise will be critical in ensuring the successful execution of projects, fostering a collaborative environment, and achieving our business goals.

Responsibilities:

1. Direct 2 teams of engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to foster professional growth and achieve high-performance.
2. Collaborate closely with product managers and designers to define and prioritize the engineering roadmap for the ecommerce platform.
3. Drive the technical vision, architecture, and design of our ecommerce solutions, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
4. Set clear goals and objectives for the team, monitor progress, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality software solutions.
5. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team, promoting best practices and ensuring effective knowledge sharing.
6. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, operations, and customer support, to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
7. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in ecommerce and engineering management, applying relevant knowledge to drive innovation within the team.
8. Collaborate with the talent acquisition team to attract, hire, and onboard top engineering talent, ensuring the team has the necessary skills and resources to deliver on its objectives.
9. Ensure adherence to engineering processes, coding standards, and quality assurance practices, driving a culture of excellence and maintaining high software quality.

Requirements

1. Proven experience as an engineering leader and managing software engineering teams.
2. Strong technical background in software development, with expertise in ecommerce platforms, web technologies, and cloud-based architectures. Experience with JavaScript or Ruby on Rails is a plus.
3. Solid understanding of agile software development methodologies and best practices.
4. Excellent leadership and management skills, with a track record of building and developing high-performing engineering teams.
5. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, driving alignment and delivering on business objectives.
6. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
8. Experience with modern software development tools, version control systems, and project management platforms.
