Fire Protection Engineer

Coffman Engineers is seeking an entry-level Fire Protection Engineer with zero to three years of experience who is passionate about their craft, wants to work on a high-functioning team, and looking for an environment that promotes professional growth. The ideal candidate should have a desire to work and grow as a team player within our multi-discipline engineering team, and be willing to have fun.

You would be providing our clients with automatic suppression system design, fire detection, alarm and mass notification system design, life-safety code analysis, egress analysis, fire resistant construction analysis, smoke control analysis and special inspection as well as general fire protection and life safety concepts and research.

Skills, Knowledge and abilities:

• Assist in performing consulting services for internal clients, utilizing Fire Protection Engineering technical skills, including but not limited to: automatic suppression system design; fire detection, alarm and communication system design; code analysis; egress analysis; fire resistant construction analysis; smoke control analysis; as well as general fire protection and life safety concepts and research.
• Assist in managing CAD and production efforts.
• Able to multi‐task and prioritize in a fast‐paced environment.
• Possess strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical abilities.
• Possess basic level computer skills necessary for daily activities including email, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, and a working knowledge of computer‐aided drafting, Revit, and fire dynamic simulation for Fire Protection Engineers.
• Positive contributor to overall office and department goals, culture, and morale.
• Collaborate with multiple teams across multiple offices in a multi-disciplinary environment.
• Able to work independently as well as on teams.
• Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Requirements

• BS degree in engineering or related science from accredited college or university
• Potential for EIT, NICET, and PE
• Minimum of 1 to 3 years of professional experience in Fire Protection Engineering consulting (preferred)
• Background working in the Fire Protection or Fire Alarm industry (preferred)
• General building construction knowledge
• Experience working with AutoCAD or Revit

Expected Annual Salary of $70,000.00 - $72,000.00.
