Ampersand is Africa’s emobility pioneer. Ampersand provides electric motorcycles and charging infrastructure (battery swap stations), uniquely tailored to serve half of Africa’s road fleet: Commercial motorcycle taxi and delivery drivers. These motorcycles are a primary means of public transport in African cities, and it is estimated that drivers spend >$6Bn p.a. on gasoline in East Africa alone, which produces harmful carbon emissions. Ampersand has developed an electric solution that is more cost-effective, powerful, and fun to drive than the incumbents. Ampersand drivers routinely earn over 45% more income by going electric.

The company started in Kigali, Rwanda, and expanded into Nairobi, Kenya in 2022. Today it has over 4,000 e-motorcycles on the road and 50 battery swap stations across the two countries. Ampersand is leading the market in quality and affordable EV tech, customer satisfaction, and operational systems. The Ampersand team consists of 500+ staff drawn from diverse backgrounds and is working hard to see all 5 million taxi motorbikes in East Africa become electric by 2030. About the role

As a Graphic Designer at Ampersand, you will create visual content for digital and print, including social media graphics, infographics, presentations, and promotional materials. You will collaborate with the marketing team to develop cohesive campaigns, produce illustrations, and create simple animations. The role requires 2-3 years of design experience, proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, fluency in Kinyarwanda and English, and a strong design portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

• Visual Concept Development: Create compelling visual concepts using computer software or by hand to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, and captivate consumers.
• Digital Marketing Assets Production: Design and produce digital marketing assets such as social media graphics, email templates, and digital advertisements to support Ampersand’s campaigns.
• Infographic Creation: Develop engaging infographics to simplify and visualize complex data and information for various audiences.
• Presentation Design: Create visually appealing presentations for both internal stakeholders and external clients, ensuring clarity and impact.
• Campaign Material Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing team to develop cohesive materials that align with campaign strategies and objectives.
• Illustration Development: Produce custom illustrations for a variety of marketing and communication materials, enhancing visual storytelling.
• Brand Alignment: Ensure all designs are consistent with Ampersand's brand guidelines and visual identity, maintaining brand integrity across all platforms.
• Print Material Design: Design print materials including business cards, letterheads, and promotional items, ensuring high-quality output.
• Motion Graphics and Animation: Create motion graphics and simple animations to enhance digital platforms and marketing efforts.
• Project Management: Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring all deadlines are met without compromising on quality.

Minimum Requirements:

• A strong portfolio showcasing recent design work.
• 2-3 years of experience in the creative field as a graphic designer.
• Proficiency in professional design software, particularly Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.).
• Fluency in Kinyarwanda and English.
• A university degree is preferred but not a strict requirement.
