As Senior Engineer (Front & Rear Plastics), you will be responsible for:

• Lead the design and development of automotive plastic trim components and assemblies, including Side Door Exterior Rocker Trims, functional plastic parts, Hood Trims, Lift Gate Trims, Spoiler Systems, and manage polymer-related aspects from initial concept through to production.
• Create and optimize designs at both the system and component levels, focusing on performance, size, weight, durability, and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to integrate various systems effectively, applying creativity and teamwork to achieve the best outcomes.
• Interface with Manufacturing, Design, Product Development, Purchasing, Supplier Quality, Stamping, and suppliers on tool buy-offs and secondary component changes.
• Develop and execute testing plans, coordinating and conducting physical tests to validate design concepts and achieve performance goals.
• Analyze section properties, materials, and manufacturing processes through benchmarking to assess design competitiveness.
• Determine and apply tolerances using GD&T.

Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of experience in automotive plastic part design, including expertise in thermal expansion impacts on part alignment, gap and flushness, and paint matching, preferably within OEM or supplier environments.
• Proven track record in successful system-level integration.
• Experience with Class A surface data and a strong command of 3D CAD tools, preferably CATIA V5/V6.
• Proficiency in analysis tools such as ANSYS, OptiStruct, MATLAB, ADAMS, etc.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $130,000

The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
