**Job Description Summary

The New Technology Lead Engineer is responsible for the design of mechanical systems and equipment of the gas turbine (GT) power plant for R&D programs. This includes the design of fuel supply and distribution systems, cooling & sealing air systems, associated equipment (valves, fuel gas performance heater, HDAS cooler, filters…). In particular, the engineer will be responsible for designing the systems and equipment and their integration to meet highest level of safety, quality, delivery and cost.
The New Technology Lead Engineer works with a broad network of engineers within GE Vernova, including technical experts from the entire Mechanical CoE cross functional teams, Platform & Program Management, Project Engineering and also with critical suppliers in order to develop innovative and sustainable designs through the R&D processes. The Lead Engineer also customizes designs for Requisition-R&D types of programs through the New Unit Requisition (NUR) process. The Engineer also supports Inquiry-to-Order (ITO) bid packages and analysis tool development and implementation. This position offers a broad, cross-functional, and variable work scope for a driven, self-motivated engineer.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Design next generation Mechanical CoE Systems and Equipment within R&D team to address business needs
  • Design sustainable products with focus on highest safety, quality, delivery and cost
  • Comply with R&D process and manage milestones, design with large autonomy, get validation from Technical Leaders and Controlled Title Holders
  • Present design in front of the board of reviewers and close action items.
  • Identify need, develop and implement controlled design/analysis tools and methods in agreement with leaders, to improve Standard Work and decrease cost of poor quality (CoPQ).
  • Customize existing equipment designs to meet Requisition-R&D specific contractual requirements and location specific codes and standards.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering and program management teams, Chief Engineering Office, manufacturing engineering, and external suppliers to create cohesive design
  • Propose innovation development through Multi Generational Technology Plan
  • Perform process, mechanical, and/or flow analysis to support development, customization, and technical support of hardware and systems.
  • Support ITO bid packages through project specific pressure budget calculations, fuel analyses, and equipment recommendations in order to win competitive orders and have a direct impact on GE Vernova’s bottom line.
  • Work with GE Vernova Customer Service Engineering, field personnel, and customers to support installation, commissioning and validation of the new products
  • Support root cause analysis leader to improve products and execute corrective action for reliability, quality, and/or performance issues in existing designs. Drive resolution of such issues with high sense of urgency.
  • Peer younger engineers in their design choices, simulation activities, and coach interns and apprentices
  • Work cross-functionally with partner organizations to improve variable cost and drive usage of standard product for enhanced quality and delivery.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor/Master of Science/Technology in Process, Mechanical, Chemical, or related engineering field from an accredited Engineering School, university or equivalent
  • 5 years of experience in Engineering related field

Desired Characteristics

  • Engineer with passion for sustainability, including deep understanding of decarbonization opportunities in the gas turbine combined cycle space
  • Fundamental understanding of processes, thermal and fluid flow analysis tools.
  • Experience with Schematics/P&IDs/Flow Diagrams, and their use for representing fluid systems.
  • Ability to visualize complex mechanical systems and work with modelers and suppliers to develop 3D representations of equipment and systems on a power plant.
  • Data-driven engineer with analytical skills able to design products with a focus on Safety and Quality, and able to lead Lean process continuous improvement
  • Clear thinking: able to break large, complex problems into an achievable timeline with individual deliverables and stakeholders/approvers driving to prompt resolution.
  • Work in high level of autonomy, able to peer less experienced engineers and interns/apprentices
  • Good attitude, self-starter, well-balanced, team player able to work in a multi-cultural environment
  • Excellent communications skills - both verbal and written.
  • System level thinking, system integration, continuous improvement and customer satisfaction mindset.

The base pay range for this position is 98,400.00 - 164,000.00 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 10% bonus.
