The Middleware Engineer job develops and manages middleware systems through installing, configuring and maintaining middleware technologies, software, and hardware to enhance the organization's business efficiency and insights. While working independently under limited supervision, this job delivers middleware technologies that connect components or applications and allows multiple processes running on one or more machines to interact across the network. This job also resolves technical issues that arise between the systems, and defines and documents technical designs and system configurations
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Designs appropriate middleware for the environment based on an organization's architectural needs.
- Identifies key middleware capabilities and performance requirements when developing system architectures.
- Provides technical specifications and standards for layered and multidimensional middleware models.
- Modifies existing software to correct errors to allow it to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance.
- Analyzes and develops technology solutions requiring integration of multiple platforms, operating systems and applications across the enterprise to meet business needs.
- Works with software developers on dynamic application features such as authentication, authorization, auditing, configuration management, or debugging middleware applications.
- Communicates with appropriate architecture groups to ensure that a unified direction is in place and is being followed.
- Keeps abreast of emerging technology trends, and apply innovative technologies to update existing middleware.
- Ensures optimal performance for middleware components through resolving any software and hardware problems.
