Director, NAND Systems Engineering

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• A senior leader who will drive all aspects of firmware engineering for custom class of embedded NAND storage devices
• Define development and validation methodologies, plans, team organization, infrastructure, and quality
• Lead architecture, design, development and deployment of innovative firmware that deliver competitive advantage and scale our business growth.
• Own the vision for firmware development, firmware test and quality
• Collaborate and drive engagement with related engineering functions such as product development core team, ASIC design, Memory system engineering, Memory device engineering, Manufacturing, QA, customer teams etc.
• Align resourcing according to the organization’s strategic directions, driving clarity and ensuring success for projects.
• Lead and coach the team to deliver for success, thrive at the leading edge of innovation
• Recruit, manage and mentor a team of developers that own full technology lifecycle from incubation to production and beyond.
• Maintain a diverse and inclusive environment that attracts, develops and retain high performers.

Requirements

Qualifications

• BS or MS Electrical Engineering or related field
• At least 15 years direct experience delivering firmware for complex embedded teams at scale.
• 10+ years of experience as a manager leading high performing engineering teams
• 5+ years of experience leading large cross functional organizations that collaborate across multiple geographies
• Well versed with embedded software development and quality processes, methodologies, tools
• Experience building and managing high performance engineering teams
• Adaptable and agile with a mindset to drive innovation concurrently with execution
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation, presentation, and influence skills.
• Strong skills in critical thinking, decision making, problem-solving, and attention to details with a business mindset.
• Experience in NAND memory or HDD firmware engineering highly desired
• Demonstrated ability to deliver end to end solutions in data storage devices highly desired
• Must haves
  * Work experience related NAND Flash and sound understanding of ONFI
  * Hands on experience with Lab Equipments (Testers, Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators, Logic Analyzers)
  * Good with understanding software programs written in C, C++, C# and able to step through the code if required
  * Ability to troubleshoot and analyze complex problems with minimal data points
  * Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  * Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  * The ideal individual must have proven ability to achieve results in a fast moving, dynamic environment. Self-motivated and self-directed, however, must have demonstrated ability to work well with people. A proven desire to work as a team member, both on the same team and outside of the team
  * Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  Nice to haves
  * Work experience in product validation especially from a manufacturing testing perspective
  * Background in Semiconductor Manufacturing Processes/Operations and Flash Memory Architecture
  * Good with Statistical analysis tools and correlating large data sets
  * Experience as a technical lead managing daily activities of junior engineers in the team
