Actuarial Analysts work closely with Managing Actuaries or Product Leaders to prepare pricing analyses, develop actuarial models, and apply mathematical and statistical techniques to analyze profitability on a state basis. They collaborate with Product Managers on new products and market entry and provide support during the rate and rule revision process by preparing filings and coordinating responses to regulator questions. Their goal is to help the company achieve its profit and growth targets by improving product performance.

DUTIES:

  • Develop, prepare, and complete pricing analyses, including the development of rates, ultimate loss projections and communication of results.
    Develop, prepare, and complete IBNR reserve analyses.
  • Participate in development and update of actuarial models and databases through formula development, research on methodologies, and collaboration on technical teams.
  • Strong understanding and ability to discuss and apply the use of existing & new actuarial concepts/techniques involving exposure adjustments, trend, loss development, exposure rating, et al with some assistance/guidance.
  • Analyze claims experience on a per client-basis and work with client teams to make recommendations on what actions can be taken to improve population health and reduce claims spend.
  • Work closely with Lead Actuarial Consultant to support introduction of new solutions and vendors in the market and enhancements to existing services to client teams, including post implementation analysis of new solutions for some clients.
  • Consult to internal client teams on actuarial analysis and expertise.
  • Potentially consult to clients on actuarial analysis and expertise.
  • Pursue formal education via Society of Actuaries (SOA) exams and continuing education.
  • Other duties as needed to support client teams.

REQUIREMENTS: โ€‹

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Math, Science, or Business.
  • One (1) year in any occupation with experience in healthcare underwriting or related experience.
  • One (1) year in any occupation with experience in healthcare underwriting or related experience must include: Completion of at least 2 exams with the Society of Actuaries; Technical actuarial experience and experience in rating models; Excel; and Experience linking multiple data sources to organize data into a logical format for analysis.

TELECOMMUTING EMPLOYEE: Reports to company office in Irvine, CA. Can work remotely or telecommute up to 80%.
