YOU

The Director, Software Engineering, for the Customer Facing Technology division, helps formulate, execute and lead the technical strategy across all Simpson Strong-Tie software business units, and is responsible for directing development to support and grow market share. You will work with some of the industryโ€™s most accomplished technical managers to help deliver the best-in-class tools that power the construction industry.

WHAT YOUโ€™LL BE DOING (% of Time)

Direct, coordinate, and facilitate Simpson software development across multiple business units to deliver seamless and consistent, best-in-class, digital solutions for the building industry. Provide technical guidance, while leveraging the collective intelligence across teams to build alignment in both infrastructure and deliverables. Implement best practices and standardization for the Software Development Life Cycle. (40%)

Support established organizational objectives by developing goals and strategies. Ensure goals and expectations are met, keeping senior leadership apprised of status, coordinating and directing the removal of any impediments, presenting and managing budgets, monitoring and improving cost-efficiency, and assisting with the development of future objectives and strategic goals. (30%)

Promote high performance and accountability, including using modern methods, metrics & tools to promote continuous improvement; direct and hiring staff and cultivate teamwork among and across teams; and coordinate training including staying abreast of applicable technologies and trends. (30%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Masterโ€™s degree in computer science or technology, information systems or software engineering course of study or relevant experience required.
  • 10+ years of relevant software development and team leading experience.
  • 7+ years of experience designing and building complex software applications (cloud native as well as legacy client-server) with a track record of on time deliveries.
  • 7+ years of leading and motivating a large, software organization to successful execution against their measurable goals across a dispersed team.
  • Technical familiarity needed to coordinate direction for the Software Development Life Cycle infrastructure across all members of Customer Facing Technology in areas such as issue tracking, builds, delivery, documentation and processes.
  • Communication: Ability to write in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner for the intended audience.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to diligently attend to details and pursue quality in accomplishing tasks.
  • Relationship building: Ability to maintain an open, approachable manner, and treat others respectfully. Work collaboratively with employees within department, across functions & with partners.
  • Coaching and Mentoring: Ability to create an environment that allows staff to feel motivated to work and interact.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate with senior & executive leadership teams on strategy, innovation, development status and change management
  • Leadership: Ability to set clear, meaningful, challenging, and attainable goals.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment where standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers/scanners, etc. are frequently used.

TRAVEL REQUIRED

This job requires approximately 20% domestic travel.

WORK STATUS & LOCATION

This full-time, exempt position is located in Dallas, Texas, although remote work can be negotiated.

RELOCATION

Relocation is not available for this position.

Pay

$135,400 - $230,200 / year

* Posted pay range is based upon national average and may vary depending on geographical work location.
