We’re seeking a creative and energetic Software Engineer to join our established, multi-disciplinary team. We provide game design, development, and integration for leading online casinos, brand owners, and game software providers worldwide. Our Solihull technology hub is a bustling hive of passion and innovation, home to a phenomenal team that has developed a cutting-edge framework designed to keep us at the forefront of gaming development technology for many years to come.

You will be responsible for understanding and translating in-house designs into Java-based server-side applications. This includes developing slot, table, and instant win game profiles, integrating detailed server-client communications, and delivering implementations with comprehensive tests, documentation, and internal browser-based tools.

Your voice will matter. You won’t be just a cog in the machine. Even though we’re part of a large corporation, we are also an independent studio within its structure. Any ideas, improvements, and critiques are always welcome.

This role follows a hybrid approach to working, allowing you to combine working from home with working in our modern offices. These discussions are between you and your manager to find the best pattern for you both, while recognising that quality time together is essential for keeping us mission-aligned.

What you’ll do:

• Develop Java-based server applications for slots, reactors, table, and instant win games.
• Generate communication protocols using JSON or a custom text format.
• Design and write comprehensive unit and integration tests with JUnit.
• Design, implement, and compile statistical tests to prove the accuracy of game profiles.
• Validate the engine against the C simulator.
• Develop supporting tools using JavaScript and HTML.
• Contribute improvements to documentation and the framework.
• Participate in code design decisions and code reviews.
• Debug issues and work closely with other teams to deliver high-quality games on time.

What you’ll bring:

Essential:

• Commercial experience with Java or any other imperative language with the ability to quickly pick up Java.
• Familiarity with the JSON format.
• Experience with version control tools.
• Basic math skills, including an understanding of probability, ratios, and percentages.
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and work ethic.

Desirable:

• Experience with Rust.
• Experience with WebAssembly.
• Familiarity with the HTTP protocol.
• Understanding of statistics.
• Experience in the gambling industry or developing gambling game logic.
• Experience with Docker.
• Experience with Git.
• Experience with JavaScript, Bash, and Python.
