Staff Software Engineer - Backend

• Work on emerging technologies, building highly scalable, secure, reliable and fault tolerant distributed systems
• Collaborate with project team members (Product Managers, Architects, Analysts, Software Engineers, Project Managers, etc.) to ensure development and implementation of new data driven business solutions.
• Drive development effort End-to-End for on-time delivery of high quality solutions that conform to requirements, conform to the architectural vision, and comply with all applicable standards.
• Collaborate with senior technical staff and PM to identify, document, plan contingency, track and manage risks and issues until all are resolved
• Present technical solutions, capabilities, considerations, and features in business terms.
• Effectively communicate status, issues, and risks in a precise and timely manner.
• Partner with Product on implementation strategy.
• Participate in design and code review sessions as appropriate, to ensure the quality of work delivered by self and teammates are in accordance with development standards
• Find opportunities to create, automate and scale repeatable analyses or build self-service tools for business users

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:
• 5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 8+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
• 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD in Computer Science or related technical field
• 6+ years of experience with architecting and developing distributed systems including analysis and design
• Expertise in using at least one of the following general purpose programming languages: Java, Scala, Python
• 6+ years of industry experience in product companies
• Experience working with multiple database models such as Relational DBMS and Document Store
• Experience with continuous integration and delivery with a anything that can be automated should be automated mindset
• Proficiency in multi-threading, concurrency, caching, distributed messaging and distributed data storage concepts
• Strong Communication and Collaboration skills
• Minimum three (3) years experience in a leadership role with or without direct reports
• Experience using Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, and Test Automation tools
• Demonstrated ability to absorb, and understand new information, technologies, and practices quickly
• At least 1 years experience with container strategies and ecosystems such as Docker, Kubernetes
• Experience writing code in multiple programming language paradigms such as Object Oriented Programming and Functional Programming
Experience in Trade Finance, Equities, Payments Processing, Wholesale Credit is a plus

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 132,300.00 to 191,800.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
