Downstream Process Development Engineer

Scientific skills

• Candidate should have good understanding of protein biochemistry, bioprocess techniques as it relates to protein purification process development.
• Hands on experience with purifying proteins using equipment such as chromatography purification systems (e.g., AKTA Avant), TFF and NFF systems (e.g., AKTA crossflow, Pendotech TFF), high throughout purification system (e.g., TECAN).
• Have a basic understanding of scale up and scale down principles for chromatography and filtration unit operations and column packing procedures.
• The candidate should be able to contribute to planning and design of experiments, execution and analysis of data.
• The candidate is expected to maintain proper documentation of experimental results as per GLP standards within existing quality system.

Other Relevant Skills

• Candidate would be expected to understand standard lab functions, SOPs and work according to standard EHS practices.
• Good Microsoft Office (Word, excel, ppt) skills and ability to communicate results in reports and or presentation at group meetings.
• Efficient communication, technical writing, collaboration, and data management skills are required.

Requirements

Education and experience

• BS or MS in Chemical or Biochemical engineering, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or related disciplines
• 2-5 years of industry or academic experience in protein purification process development

Additional information

Position is full-time and permanent, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm with over time as needed. Candidates currently living in a commutable distance to Rahway NJare encouraged to apply. On-site work is expected in order to be effective in this role.
