Site Engineering Lead

Job Description

Reporting to the Site lead, the Site Engineering Lead is pivotal in overseeing site Facilities & Utilities, Site Project Management Organisation (PMO) and the Engineering Centre of Excellence & Sustainability. This role involves ensuring the effective delivery of the site capital program in partnership with our Global Engineering Services team (GES). The Site Engineering Lead will foster a collaborative environment, manage engineering standards, and drive diverse talent development across the site.

Strategic Participation and Compliance:

• Site SLT Member: Actively participate in the Site Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to help shape and implement strategies that align with customer and corporate requirements.
• Compliance: Ensure adherence to Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS), Quality Management Systems (QMS), and engineering standards by integrating these requirements into standard operational procedures.
• Quality Risk Management (QRM): Serve as a decision-maker in managing quality risks, ensuring that all engineering activities meet high standards of quality and compliance.

Facilities & Utilities Management:

• Site Utilities Management Oversee the efficient maintenance and operation of our vaccine manufacturing utilities and facilities.
• IFM Model: Manage facilities using the Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) model, overseeing both hard and soft services.
• Cost Reduction and Energy Optimisation: Partner with regional leaders to reduce total costs of facilities and utility services with a focus on strategic energy management.

Capital Projects and Engineering Systems:

• Planning and Execution: Oversee the planning and execution of site capital projects, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and efficient resource use in partnership with our global engineering services team (GES). Sponsor and lead our Site Project Management Office (PMO) to deliver projects flawlessly.
• Master Planning: Develop and implement master plans to guide long-term site development and operational strategies.
• Maintenance Programs: Manage reliability excellence, and oversee preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
• Engineering Systems: Ensure the effective operation and maintenance of engineering systems and laboratory facilities.
• Outsourced Engineering Stores: Manage relationships with outsourced engineering stores, ensuring effective service and cost management.

Sustainability and Standards

• Sustainability Lead and deliver our Site Sustainability Strategy in line with local and our company's network targets across energy, waste, water and Biodoversity while also building a culture of a sustainability mindset on site.
• GES Standards: Adhere to Global Engineering Solutions (GES) engineering standards, ensuring that site operations meet global benchmarks.
• Site Security and IED Compliance: Ensure compliance with site security systems and regulations such as the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED) and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) regulations.
• Local Standards: Maintain compliance with all applicable local regulations and standards.

Continuous Improvement & Cost Efficiency:

• Six Sigma: Drive a culture of continuous improvement by deploying Six Sigma tools and methodologies within the Facilities Management & Engineering Department.
• Lean Principles: Implement lean principles to standardize problem-solving processes and enhance operational efficiency.

Job Experience

Industry Knowledge: Extensive experience in pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing, including Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering.

Experience: Over 10 years in the industry with 5+ years in leadership roles, including front-line supervisory experience.

Leadership: Strong leadership skills with a focus on performance management, change management, and continuous improvement.

Methodologies: Proficient in Six Sigma and Lean methodologies for process optimization.

Project Management: Proven ability to lead and deliver projects effectively within scope, time, and budget.

Qualifications

BSc, BEng, MS or PhD in Engineering or Equivalent and minimum of 15 years’ experience.
