Senior Design Engineer

Responsibilities / Tasks

THE POSITION

To provide Design/ detail Engineering and other technical support in the preparation/presentation of proposals and projects.

The key priorities for the role:

• Upon securing a contract / order the incumbent (depending upon the size and complexity of the project) may be required to operate independently or as part of a project team to develop General arrangement and Fabrication /manufacturing of Components, Structures Ducting as well as other document’s/drawings for the project.

The tasks and responsibilities for the role include:

• Hands on experience for steel Structure design as per Indian standards (IS800, IS875, IS1893, IS2062, IS805 etc.) and international standards (EN1993..) manually and/or STAAD-Pro.
• Hi-proficiency in 3D structure on Revit , Autodesk mechanical, inventor, or any other structure design and modeling software.
• Awareness of general availability of member sizes in market as per standards.
• Ability to understand the Design analysis report Generated on Design software/ program and Design code.
• Work cooperatively with the team of engineers and technical staff in the Business Unit in the preparation of quotations and execution of projects as and when required.
• Create drawings from basic 2D/3D required to complete a project; drawing multiple views of the system, components/Equipment, and parts; depicting relationship of components and parts; identifying dimensions, angles, curvatures, tolerances, and materials.
• Participate in the review of plant, equipment and structures as required.
• Schedule and control own workflow to meet deadline commitments.
• Undertake control of design, modeling and drafting for small to medium sized projects as required.
• Preserve and improve design knowledge and experience.
• Check prints by utilizing GEA checking procedures.
• Work cooperatively with the Company administrative staff.
• Knowledge about Equipment, Ducting, Structure Etc.
• Knowledge of working with Autodesk Vault or Vault PRO, plant 3D, etc. will be an added advantage,
• Develop the Drawings according to given sketches, P&ID’s, layout, and specifications under the direction of engineering team.
• Administration
  • Maintain appropriate records by filing drawings, project notes and specifications using the local regions filing procedures.
  • Keep up to date on all new products, product changes and general processing trends.
  • Prepare weekly timesheets and project reports.
  • Assist in other parts of the Company's business as required to ensure the overall effectiveness of the Company.

Travel Requirements:

• The Engineer will be based in Vadodara Office.
• Travel Which may involve extended periods stay on sites, throughout India location, may require based on Project requirement. ​

Your Profile / Qualifications

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Technical Designer should be detail oriented, possess good English language communication skills, both verbal and written.

Must be self-motivated.

Must possess good interpersonal skills and work well in a team setting as well as independently as required.

Qualification:

ME structural / Batchelor or mechanical with Extensive experience of steel structural design

Experience

Minimum 8 to 10 years of work experience in the field of steel structure Engineering.

Required languages

Full working proficiency in English

Software proficiency

• STAAD Pro.
• Revit
• Autodesk Mechanical
• Plant 3D

Relevant work experience

• Hands on experience in design and detailing of steel structure, it includes designing of technological structure as well as access platforms.
• In steel structure design knowledge of bolted structure, welded structure, Column, beam, connection details, mounting design, built-up sections is essential.
• Mechanical Drawing / 3D of structure, Layout, Ducting piping Etc.…
• Detail drawing and dimensioning according to all international and Indian standard.
• Experience in steel structure designing would be highly desire...
• Experience in the field of Emission control industries would be added advantage.

Other Skills required.

Computer literacy with demonstrated experience in using the Internet, Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel), MS Project preferred Etc..

Interpersonal skills:

• Part of a team with a common design sense. Needs to be able to communicate openly their criteria and accept new designs and improvements analyzing advantages and disadvantages in an objective manner but also taking care of aesthetical aspects.
• Strong organizational skills, people skills and attention to detail.
• Needs to be able to persuade the client (internal or external) for getting a GEA fingerprint in the design but respecting their preferences.
• Needs to be creative and innovative but taking care about learned lessons.
• Ability to communicate within the organization to all levels.

Communication requirements for the role:

• Internal stakeholders: GEA Site, Project, Quality and HSE Managers, Project Engineering, Regional Sales, Technical design teams, Global Engineering pool teams, Supply chain and Logistics.
• External stakeholders: Customers Site, HSE and Quality managers, GEA sub suppliers.
• Type of communication: Face to Face, email and online meetings will be used to negotiate and harmonize internal/external stakeholders about successful project delivery.
